I recently took a class in "altared books" and I couldn't get over what a poignantly beautiful way this is to present an idea or a statement. I discovered that there are websites of artists showing altared books on the net. Extraordinary. anyone else in Mylot doing this?

What are you making the flowers from? I like making candles. Used to make candles for ritual- and for healing- using herbs and pouring the candles according to astrological placements in relation to the purpose of the candle-one day I took one of my healing herb encrusted cnadles to a friend who'd been ill. The herbs slipped into the pool of melted wax around the wick and turned into a huge pyrotechnique.fortunately she caught it and using a large pot as a candle snuffer, put it out. I didn't add herbs to my candles after that. I'm dangerous in my misguided good intentions!

I'm sorry that I cannot contribute much into this. I am not into it and I understand that you want to come across somebody who is into it. I chose your topic thinking that you are going to delve into altered books of which I am very much ignorant of. This is actually the first time I have ever heard of this. Please expound on the matter. I'll be waiting for your reply.

Happily. Using a book that has firm binding, but useless content- redesign the interior. Using scrapbooking techniques, decoupage, a variety of things to glue into it, paints to color the pages- glue to stick some pages together and an exacto blade to cut a window out of the glued together pages- create a visual journey. Some people worked out a way to install drawers using matchboxes, there are some with dolls inserted inside open boxes formed by cutting a window out of a hundred glued together pages, all kinds of objects, pictures, ribbons, flowers, toys are inserted through the books. There are sites you can find just by putting altered books on a search engine. Hope you love what you see there.

I have doing altered books this year. I am also a writer and so I found a second purpose for my altered books. What I do now is write my fantasy stories to my altered books I have to tear out a lot of pages because I type out my stories on the PC, add pictures, designs, fonts, etc.. then size them down the books. Then after the story pages are in place, I begin decorating each of the pages, including the cover. I have a sample of this but I haven't figured out how to upload the images here at Mylot. I do have them on a webpage of my Kloey book that will show you what I have done. http://www.dragonling.com/hoard/abook.htm
