Did you put your clocks forward? |
|
In the United States and Canada, we moved an hour ahead last night. Did anyone manage to do this? If you are not from the U.S. or Canada, when do you change your clocks?

1. beckish (549) | 1 year ago | We moved our clocks forward. I always hate it when we switch to daylight savings time - it always messes me up. I would rather keep the same time all year long!

desertdarlene (5523) | 1 year ago | I know, I'm mostly a morning person who likes the sunlight early in the morning. Now, it's dark when I go out to exercise, and colder, too.

desertdarlene (5523) | 1 year ago | Thanks for answering. I don't know when the UK puts their clocks forward either. Most countries will probably be doing them in three weeks. We changed our starting this year. We won't be changing them back until November.

3. MakDomMom (1627) | 1 year ago | Yes we did change ours last night. I really hate that I lost that hour of sleep. I already felt like I needed a few more hours than that I would have gotten without a time change.

desertdarlene (5523) | 1 year ago | I actually don't feel the loss of an hour of sleep. But, I do notice it in the day when the time is later than it seems.

4. paidreader (2271) | 1 year ago | It is a little strange that we're doing this so early this year, but I got all mine done too. Not many change themselves yet either.:)

desertdarlene (5523) | 1 year ago | Three of my clocks changed themselves. The rest I had to do manually. I noticed that my cell phone clock wasn't updated. But, I think that will change later on today.

5. juls2me2 (1221) | 1 year ago | I'm in Austin, Texas this weekend and was lucky enough to have clocks that changed forward an hour on their own. When I get home, I'll have to make sure I adjust my personal clocks though. My brother that lives in Phoenix, doesn't change his clocks ever. That seemed to be easier that way. I wouldn't mind getting rid of the constant time adjustments.

desertdarlene (5523) | 1 year ago | You're in Austin? Wow, I'll have to read all the latest on your blog, then. Do you have a lot of clocks at home? I know you probably won't have to change all your computer clocks.;)

desertdarlene (5523) | 1 year ago | You know, I forgot to change the clock on the microwave. I just got a new microwave and the old one didn't have a clock on it. My oven clock is totally broke and I can't change it. Thanks

7. airnavigator (319) | 1 year ago | I live in Arizona, one of the two states in the U.S. that has never bothered with daylight savings time and it is great to not have to worry about having to change clocks twice a year. Instead of moving our clocks, our state sort of drifts westward during the night in the spring (and eastward in the fall) and lands in the Pacific Time Zone. The only adjustment we have to make is that our network TV shows now come on at the advertised time (they are always announced according to Eastern and Pacific Time leaving the rest of us living in the middle of the country having to mentally adjust those times by one hour). So, yes our drift westward will make it easier to follow the TV schedule, without the hassel of having to change our clocks, microvave, computer, oven, coffee maker, etc (only the refrigerator comes without a clock built in).

desertdarlene (5523) | 1 year ago | When I used to travel in Arizona, I loved the fact that shows came on earlier. Even when I stayed in El Centro, we would get TV from Yuma and get the shows way earlier.

8. bgerig (1104) | 1 year ago | yes, I did. but actually, I only had to change the clock in my car, and my own alarm clock. all of the other electronic clocks change time automatically. I didn't realize it, but the one wind up clock hasn't been working for a while, so I didn't bother with that one!

desertdarlene (5523) | 1 year ago | I didn't think I would be able to change the clock in my car because I was having problems with it. I was actually planning to buy a separate clock. But, I was able to change it and I'm fine now. Thanks.

desertdarlene (5523) | 1 year ago | Thanks for the information. I think I mentioned in the beginning of the discussion that this applied, mostly, to the U.S. or Canada. Other countries may have also changed their clocks. But, as I live on the U.S./Mexican border, I am aware that not all countries do this.

10. susaneverson (4773) | 8 months ago | I thought this was a world wide thing that was set up by the train depots around the world. I may very well be wrong but isn't that why some places chose not to do it,,,like Saskatchewan Canada? Susan

desertdarlene (5523) | 7 months ago | I don't know. I heard it had to do with one of the world wars and keeping people from having too many lights on that the enemies can see. Perhaps there's something on Google about it.
