What a week to start..... My mother just got her chemo for her cancer. It was a horrible thing to see your mother being subjected to such procedure. But, we don't have any choice but to follow the doctor's advice. So far my mother was able to tolerate her 1st session. She was quite remarkable in tolerating the procedure well. 1st session ended well and so everything's seems ok for now. I hope she'll be able to take the sessions til the 6th and last chemo. So far no complications have yet been seen on her 1st 24 hours after the chemo.

Bless her heart and yours too. It is so hard to watch our parents go through anything like this. I care for my Mother who has dementia. It has been very hard to watch my mentor slowly go down hill. I now feel like the parent.
Keep your chin up, smile as much as possible and be thankful for each precious moment you have with her. These will be some very good memories for you in the future. If she is strong I am sure she will be just fine, and when it is all over you can sit down and have a good cry. A cry for relief and joy!

What pains me most is that she looks okay from the outside but you know that inside her body there is this cells that eats her life out slowly. She has regained her strength today and has been doing ok. She will go home in her province to finish the 21 days period then will travel back here in Manila for her second rounds of chemo. She is a fighter I just realized. She never complained any pain even though I could see in her that she is.

I know it's rough and I am glad your mother hasn't had any bad experiences with her chemo. My mother in law was diagonised with stomache cancer a few days before Halloween 2006. She completed a series of chemo treatments. She just called us on Sunday to let us know the chemo had worked.
She didn't handle her chemo treatments well though. She wasn't able to sleep or hold anything down. She didn't like us to visit her until a few days after her treatments.

That's very true one thing I am glad is that my mom is a very strong woman. I have never seen her cry or show that she is in pain. She just took her chemo just like that. As if she was just sitting in the hospital with IV and she doesn't even complaining about the pain. She kept her strength up until today. I am the one who is keeping my depression at bay to let her know that I am ok. But still I could feel the pain of losing her in time. It may not be now but I know it will come soon and that dreads me more than ever.

Hi there, I see this is a pretty old topic. How has your mother been in the past three years? Is she getting better? I have a relative suffering from cancer but I'm pretty sure he doesn't undergo chemo therapy... I don't know if it's due to financial difficulties or if the doctor just did not advise him to. Frankly, I don't see him taking care of his health very well, he's not living healthy - eating bad food and smoking and all that.
Thanks for the response on my discussion!
