Getting a Degree Online

I have personally not taken any such course, but distance learning has indeed become quite popular and authentic these days. The best thing to do if you are wondering about the degree or diploma is to take these courses from reputed educational institutes. Many universities offer online courses/degrees under their distance learning programs - those are a safe bet (make sure the university is an authentic/accredited one of course). Hope this helps.

I didn't, but someone very close to me did. Got her bachelor's degree starting from scratch. she had to attend two weeks a year at the campus for the testing. She did it while raising two kids, working a tough job and managing her household-all on her own. She's a Doctor now. I am so proud of her acheivements. But online was the possible way for her. If you choose carefully you'll find legitimate courses, legitimate schools, and yes you will get there from here.

I've taken correspondence courses, and how good they are depends a lot on the intructor you're assigned to. Some are good, some aren't so good. But it's worth trying because it's a lot cheaper than going to most schools or colleges.

Online degrees have come a long way since it originated many years back. At this point there are hundreds of authentic local colleges that offer the same courses via online to get credits towards a degree or now even the full degree using online courses. I have a friend that recently finished his Masters this way. I think you just have to be cautious and use colleges/universities that you have heard of or know are authentic.

Of course, I can only tell you what my experiences have been, limited as they are. Courses that can be done online usually need you to attend seminars as well and it's frightfully expensive...costing thousands of dollars. It certainly puts things out of reach for me.

I tried taking a course for drug and alcohol counselor. I did not last a week. I love to learn but, I could not get use to not having the in-class experience.
It was not structured enough for me. You were to work at your own pace for six months. When I had questions, I felt like, where is the teacher. To me, it seemed like just a bunch of endless reading. It was just not for me.
But it is one of those things that you can not honestly know until you have tried.

Before you sign for any course, check with department of professional regulations if you need to be certified in specific field. If not, you can do self study for free.
