Do you have a friend or spouse proofread your articles? |
| |
| I think it's a good idea. I'm getting ready to submit my first article to AC and had the thought that once it's there it's there and has your name on it! So, it had better look pretty flawless. Especially if you direct prospective employers there to examine your portfolio of work. So, how many of you have a second set of eyes examine your article before submitting? It would be cool to team up with other AC members to do this together. You review my article, I'll review yours kind of thing! lol | | | | | |

| | I've proofread articles my husband's written for magazines, but haven't asked him to proofread my AC articles. I wish I'd asked someone to proofread one of them, because the word "to" is missing from it, so the sentence doesn't nake sense. I was typing too fast, I guess. I have noticed many typos in other articles, so I don't think the AC people point out any errors. It's up to us. | | | | | | |

| | I do this too. That's why I'm really convinced you can't be too careful! It's good to have an extra set of eyes. Sometimes when I blog I don't catch an error until the next day. When I see it with fresh eyes I sometime blush in embarassment! | | | |

| | I don't, just because I am not a proofreading type of person. However, I read over articles for others sometimes. But for my own, how I write it the first time is exactly what I want. No outlines, no proofreading. | | | | | | |

| | I don't have anyone around to proofread for me but I like to set my article aside for a day or two. It is amazing how many mistakes pop up on a second or third reading. Some authors recommend setting things aside even longer, like up to a week or 10 days so you can look at it with new eyes. | | | | | | |

| | I try to proofread my articles at least a couple times. I see a lot of articles on there that could use some proofreading help! I often find mistakes after I have "finished and previewed" and take time to edit them out. For some reason I find them easier to spot once they are uploaded. No matter what good points the article may make, misspelling and bad grammar and punctuation make it look sloppy and carelessly written. | | | | | | |

| | I agree. I've read many articles with errors that I'm sure went overlooked and I know myself well enough to admit I'm no better! I find mistakes in my work all the time. My blog is a perfect example. I reread posts a week later and find myself editing all over the place! It's a tad bit embarassing! lol | | | |

| | I usually don't have anyone look over my stuff, which I know is a bad thing because I know I have a lot mistakes that I need corrected. I don't know anyone however that really would be willing enough to look over my stuff and correct it well. | | | | | | |

| | Maybe another writer would in exchange for having you read their work? That's what I was thinking about doing. I think I have a great proofreader already, but when my husband is too busy, would be good to have a writing buddy! lol | | | |

| | I don't have much of a problem typing too fast because I'm very slow. I don't have anyone proofread my articles. I have Word Perfect on my computer and write my article their first. Their is a tool called Grammatik that will check your spelling and proper grammar. Boy, do I love it! I'm a good speller, but sometimes not so great with the grammar part of it. It really helps! I usually checkto see if I can fit in any popular key or search words. Their are a few sites where yo can find out what the most popular search words or phrases are, including AC. People who have written about tips on using AC have some great ideas that are very helpful. I too usually double check or even triple check with fresh eyes before submitting it. | | | | | | |

| | Heh heh I have a couple of articles published on AC with typos in them. One I made the mistakes and in the other who-ever there decided to make my subheadline did it. Doesn't really bother me though., most of my stuff is well typed and just shows I am human. | | | | | | |
