Anyone here enjoy knitting in silk yarn? I've recently started using silk quite a lot for very fine knitting and its so beautiful and slinky to handle. The only trouble is that if your hands are at all rough it snags on the yarn, but thats a good excuse to remember to take care of your hands occasionaly I think.

I wish I could afford it! It seems like it would be such a luxurious feel. Oh well, someday I'll have money.

It doesnt have to be particularly expensive, Silk is very light and goes a long way, so especially if you knit small items in a fine guague it can be very cost effective. I pay just over £8 for 150g of silk yarn, thats pretty cost effective comparted to wool

i have never tried to knit with silk yarn but it sounds like it would be alot of fun and make a really pretty creation but i might have some trouble when it comes to rough hands i work outside on a farm everyday and my hands feel like an old mans hands i use hand lotion sometimes but my hands are still so rough but i would still like to give it a whirl and see what all i could make maybe when i get some free time on my hands i could go to the store and find some silk yarn to knit with

Oh, I would love to try it some day. I love to touch it when I am in a yarn store and it feels amazing. But I am still learning so I will probably wait before trying it. As for your hands, if you are interested I invite you to visit my website on my profile. Sign my guestbook and I will send you a free sample of the best all natural hand lotion around. It is not currently sold in the UK but we are going international soon.
