Anticipation of delivery food...

United States

There are a blue million posts about drivel around here anyway, so lets talk delivery food. Here I sit all starving in anticipation of Point Pizza's delicious fresh grilled chicken salad with no croutons and lots of ranch dressing. They said 25 minutes, and I swear this has been the longest 25 minutes ever! It's only been about 15 minutes, and Point Pizza is always on it, food is always fresh & good. What do you do to occupy your time and ignore your growling belly while waiting for the delivery guy??

We live too far out in the country for anyone to deliver to us. I can compare your question to when I'm waiting on my hubby to bring home supper from one of the restaurants. I just usually find little things to do to keep myself busy. I may sweep the kitchen floor or do a quick vaccuum of the livingroom or some other small job that needs done. That usually seems to work!

...hmmm...actually getting up out of the chair and doing something to pass time...hmmm...that's just crazy enough to work! lol j/k Thanks for stopping by, Melanie :) Seriously, I hadn't thought of that, staying busy physically rather than mentally. I'll try it next time.

D'oh why did you have to talk food?! Especially at this hour, now I've gotta raid the fridge d'oh! Usually when we order takeaway especially on a Saturday night we have an hour to wait! Makes us appreciate the food more, but to occupy that hour? An episode of Stargate, either on SKy, or one of the pre-recorded episodes I have stored up, I get so into the story that the hour soon passes and it takes my mind off my grumbly belly!

I just enjoyed a full hour of That 70s Show with my salad. Usually I need to keep busy to avoid the grumbles, but this time it wasn't working, lol.

I usually almost never order food for delivery. If I was to get prepared food, I usually prefer going down there to get it myself. If it is a case of being at work, but cannot leave, I usually bring my own grub anyway.

I'd probably enjoy the spaghetti dinner, but that's just me. Actually, I'm really thinking do whatever is easier.

Actually, for me, spaghetti will be easier since I make my sauce in bulk and have plenty in the freezer. Since I refuse to roll noodles now that they sell homemade Amish egg noodles in the freezer case, the boiling of the chicken is what takes forever. T'anks for da decision. Just one less t'ing I gotsta do :)

I wish I had time to prepare every meal, including packed lunches, but I've picked up yet another time-consumer: Phi Theta Kappa (YIPEE!!!), so that's more take out or more of someone else making meals, I've got A's to make, sites to run, and charities to help now. Actually, I think I am making a big dinner for the folks this Sunday, but I'll have to check--might be the following weekend. Thinking of either homemade chicken noodles over mashed potatoes with bacon green beans and tossed salads or a big spaghetti dinner with homemade cheesy garlic bread, cooked spinach and tossed salads. Which would you choose?

Isn't it great getting food delivered, I am not a good cook and when some of my friends come to my place instead of cooking a meal for them as they do for me as they are families where Ia m a single, I hand then a take away menu and tell them to pick what they want ...dinner is on me, my way....they rather like this as they don't do this at their own place....I love take away food myself....how long did you say it will be, I will there before the food arrives...hahahahahahah

Sounds familiar, lol. I am a good cook, but I only do large meals for company no more than 4 times per year. I've been known to throw pizza parties an such. Actually, we are thinking about doing this for my stepson's birthday--IF we don't have nice enough weather to cook out, that is. The food arrived mere minutes after I posted. It was good, too, lol.

I rare;y buy ordered fast food, if I did it would be Chinese, or a Chicken Curry. Godamn it's now near 1am & you've got me wanting a curry!

I've never had curry, but I hear it is really spicy. We don't have Chinese near here, but it would be nice if we did. Chicken broccoli in white sauce with steamed rice, egg drop soup, and an egg roll does sound rather tasty...

Nope, never had it. I'm not even aware of any Indian restaurants in this state--not saying there aren't any, I've just never heard of any. Maybe I'll get brave and try it some day. After all, I do like Mexican food and it's very spicy too.

There is a great place I used to order from called Steak out. You can get take out steak, baked potato, Hamburgers, fries and all that. I miss it a lot. I love to cook, however there are some nights you just don't feel like it you know? While waiting on the food I usually grab a book or play a game that grabs my attention so I don't notice the time go by lol.

That sounds really good, a baker and steak at home without the work :) I don't mind cooking and was going to, but shrimp baskets were already on the way this evening. This time I did some makeup work while I waited (watched the movie I missed in ENG 112 last week).

Ah, getting food delivered, mmm mmm. I remember the days when no such thing was possible in this area. ooh, is my age showing, probably. We here in Australia are big on deep fried and battered food, Fish and Chips, we can even get that delivered. I do like that pic of WayneT shouldn't drink, soooo funny. I'm going to show my friend that one, he'll probably want to belt me one as he remembers back in time. We did things like that to each other. Ha ha ha.
