In some of my other discussions I brought up the question if people thought pets were intuitive or psychic or if they had any odd occurances with a pet or pets they have had....Now here is a "people" question. Have any of you had what would be considered a paranormal, or psychic experience...or just anythiing strange that couldn't be explained with "logic"?
I've had a few...including one time actually seeing a ghost! This was countless years ago--when both my grandmother and mother were alive. It was around 3 in the morning...I was still awake while reading in bed...both my grandmother and mother were sound asleep...I was intent and reading..but then something made me want to look up from my reading...when I did, I saw this shimmery, entity standing near the bedroom door...since it was late at night, and I was sleepy I thought gee, maybe it was my grandmother after all and she wanted something..but it was like as soon as I acknowledged that I was "seeing" something...the form vanished...I got up...and went to see about my grandmother --seh was sound asleep,..and so was my mother...it dawned on me that I was seeing a ghost...and don't ask me why, but I think it was the spirit of my great-grandmother who had died not long before...the whole time I didn't feel one bit frightened either..I've had other weird things happen...this was just one of them!

Well..the ladies in my family have always seemed to have a knack for things. *winces* my Grandmother Dot can bend metal without touching it. Usually it'll be something small like keys or coins in her pocket..she always gets scared when that happens.
Mom and I have 'feelings' about things, but Mom's impulsive, so we can never tell if it's just her or something she's feeling. I can usually tell if someone's lying..or if someone's upset -- even if they hide it well. Mom and I also have dreams about things in the future..we can never tell which is about the future or a regular dream til after it happens if it does though -- I guess it's the price of having brains which like to imagine things (like in books, or our art).
Only a few things have come in handy..the rest of the stuff..doesn't really help much. We've also seen ghosts..only they're not so much as shimmery beings as they look like regular people. And I've seen a few other creatures which people tend to say "They're not real".
I dunno..maybe I'm crazy or we all are or something, but things are never dull to say the least..whether that's in mundane terms or in supernatural ones.

Sounds like the women in your family are "sensitives"--and are naturally psychically attuned to things--I can just imagine some of the weird occurances that went on in your life, that you perhaps took as "normal"--whatever normal means.

One night after hanging on the phone for hours, around 12am, my bf and I decided its time to go to bed. So we did and I woke up about an hour later like all fresh and awake. Checked my phone and its about 1.12am. I couldn't go back to sleep but luckily I didn't get out of bed. As i turn to one side of the bed, I felt like someone pressed the other side of the pillow and mattress like there's another person sleeping next to me. My mind worked overtime analysing who could it be. I don't share my bed with anybody plus its a single bed! Eventually I can hear the 'person' next to me breathing! I froze and recited prayers (even those that doesn't make any sense) and shut my eye tight.
Soon (but it seemed like forever) the 'person' got up. I felt relieved but it was shortlived. I heard the 'person' sobbing now! Its a lady definitely. I cursed under my breath and started reciting my 1001 prayers again.
Sobbing stops after a long while and I thought I could go back to sleep. Shortlived again! The 'person' started tugging on my t-shirt! At this point I thought its someone in the household but it can't be as we're rough people and we usually hit or scream to wake up another person (LOL).
At one point my tshirt rode up a bit exposing skin around my waist. The tugging stopped. I thought the 'person' wanted to strip me or something and gave up. So I tried to go back to sleep.
Shortlived again when I felt like 'its' nails tracing my waist from left to right. Like WTF! It doesn't hurt neither does it tickle. The 'person' applied enuff pressure to tell me 'it' is bothering me and that's it. Prayers and cursing doesn't work, so I just let it be.
Eventually I did fell asleep and woke up in the early afternoon (can you blame me?) First thing I did was to call my bf to tell him what I had experienced the night before only to be 'surprised' that my bf got disturbed too. He slept in the living room and woke up around the same time as I did and heard a lady calling his name from the windows! He's on the 2nd floor and the voice was loud enough but not in the spooky, raging tone. He grabbed his pillow and covered his face till he fell asleep!
What's going on? Are we bothered by the same 'person'?

Just wondering--did a family member recently die or something--that has to be the strangest I've ever heard the fact that both you and your bf were affected so

Well I've always been the type that seem to attract such activity. No matter where I've lived something strange or odd has happened. From seeing a ghost to little things like doors opening and shutting on their own. One time though I was laying on the couch in front of the house door. I heard something and looked up to see the door knob turn and then the door open, there was no one there. That was a bit spooky.

I sometimes wonder though why some of us seem to be more sensitive to the paranormal--and of course, if you mention some of your experiences, well they look at you strangely to say the least...right?

me and my family have so much to tell in terms of paranormal experiences but i would just tell you mine
mine:
1) seen a white lady at the top of the stairs facing me but her face was covered by her hair(1998) wow, cant move really on that one, i felt like my blood rushed from my feet to my face then down again
2)on my mother side's family house, i came face to face with a lady i didnt know, eye to eye with her on the bathroom then she suddenly disappears..
3)when me and my 2nd daughter was in our house (when my daughter was 2 years old) i heard a laugh from the living room..it was a laugh of a young woman and when i ran to see if someone is at the living room, i ran outside with my baby because there was no one there
4) when i was in the bathroom and i came out, i say a girl around 3 years old wearing a dree ran outside, i ran after her thinking it was my baby. she stopped at the fence, near the gate and hold on to the fence and right before my eyes, she disappeared. i was so shock right then and there
i have so much more but i cant vividly remember some of them

Is it possible that your whole family are psychically sensitive people...or is it just the women in the family?
Another one of my "weird" experiences...One time I was crossing the street...the light was just changing...but a car came speeding down against the light...didn't wait for it to change...for some stupid reason I just froze,...couldn't move an inch...any second I was going to quite literally be road kill since this car was coming so fast...all of a sudden I felt this hard push against me..propelliing me to move and out of the way before the car came crashing into me....I looked around...uh...no one was there! So some "guiding" hand had helped me avoid obvious disaster.

The Man On The Bench
I hope you enjoy it. This happened few years ago in my home town, Driffield, and I remember it was on Valentine's day. Me and my friend, Kerstie, were walking to her house one night. I forget what we were doing, but on the way to her house we had to pass this memorial garden. It has a few flowers, and a bench that faces a monument from the war, it's quite a nice place with a small river. There is a path that runs behind the bench, and this was the path we had chosen that day.
It wasn't quite dark and I remember it was around 6pm because there is a church not far from the garden, and the bells struck just before we walked by. We were both quite happily talking away until we came close to the bench. Then we both went silent, and turned to face the bench. It was very strange because we both did this at the exact same time, in mid sentence, and just stared for what seemed like ages. There was a man sat on the bench with his back to us. He seemed to be wearing a rather large coat, with a biggish collar, it was a greenish color, and he had a large bag next to him. I originally thought the bag was a small child huddled on the bench until I realized how large it was.
After what seemed like ages, but was most likely a few seconds, we both realized we were staring but we didn't seem to understand why. Then, at the exact same time, we both realized the guy had no visible head (I know it sounds lame but honestly it is true). Kerstie started to scream. She ran across the road and waited for me on the other side. I didn't quite know how to react and just continued to stare in shock. The guy didn't seem phased by Kerstie screaming, and this creeped me out a little. I thought maybe he was leaning forward, and his head just wasn't visible, so I slowly walked round the side of the bench, to see a front view. The whole time, he didn't move an inch. As I got closer, I saw that he wasn't hunched forward... He really didn't have a head... Just a gaping collar with blackness. Yet he had hands, and feet and everything else. He just sat there with his hands on his knees. At this point, fear got the better of me and I ran after Kerstie. As I caught up with her I paused and looked back... The guy was moving his arms... We then ran all the way to her house.
When we actually got home, it was the first time we spoke since we went silent and she said to me "You did see that didn't you?"
We then talked about the whole experience, and we had both witnessed the same thing... A headless man in green, sat with a bag on a bench. She also said that she thought the bag was a child too... I thought that was kind of odd. We thought maybe it was a guy from the war waiting for his lover, or grieving for a friend lost in the war, but I doubt we will ever know.
I know it seems unlikely but this really did happen, and if it wasn't for the fact that Kerstie saw it too, I'd wonder if I really did see it. I have seen other things but this is by far the scariest.

All I can say to this story is WOW!!
I can't help thinking that what was in that bag was his head??
You should write a fictionalized version of this and embellish a bit...it would make on hell of a story!
