I'm an official 'Travel Agent' now...

I did it. I started my own online travel business. I was scared to actually do it, but now that I've done it...I'm so glad I did! It's going to be hard work! But, I have to do it. I have to make this work! Not only for me, but more for my children! This is a great opportunity if you utilize the things you have. You can't just sit back and get rich by doing nothing. You have to work hard to get what you want and I'm ready to have what I want!! *smiles* I can't wait till I learn everything I need to. It's probably going to be a slow proceess, but I'll do my very best! I'm proud of myself. Now, I have to work my butt off so I can be proud of what I've earned! :-)
Has anyone else started an online, or small business? What type is it? Did it work well for you?

wow congrats for this decision.i wish you the best luck. yes i do work online too. translations, bookkeeping and such stuff and yes its hard work and you have to be careful with whom you are working. i hope all comes how you wish and you are successfull.

Awwwee Thanks Gabs!!! I will pm you with more info. It does have a start-up cost. But, you make that back within the first month if you really put forth the effort. Also the company really shows you how to do it the right way and you have lots of support. And when you have lots of support, you succeed. I know this will work for me. Thank you for the well wishes!

Congrats and good luck to you! Did you start in a building in your town or online or what? Did you get a license? If so, from where? I started a resale shop a couple of years ago and LOVED it! But, I live in a smallish town and it just didn't take off the way I wanted it to. I couldn't pay the bills so it had to close down. I was really upset because I worked so hard on this job for so long, but that's ok. I would love to start another business, but I need money to begin and just don't have any right now. Anyhow, good luck to you! I hope it all works out great. :)

I'm starting it online. But, mostly I will be dealing with clients face to face. I don't have to have a license right now, but once I get going, I could be opening an "office" and then I would need one.
It cost me $500 to get started, but I will have that made back in no time. And you only pay the $500 ONE TIME EVER! Actually it's only $450 if you choose not to sell it and get the website. (you don't HAVE to have the website). The website and all the training tools and 'back office' is $50 a month. But, what biz can you start with only a $50 overhead? Not many. It is hard work and time consuming, but it's worth it. I like the fact that I am getting huge savings on my travel, just that was worth the $500 because it's savings for a lifetime.

Many many congratulations on having the courage to start your own business going. Thats amazing and you should be very proud of yourself.
It definitely sounds like you have your head screwed on the right way too when you say that you know it's going to be hard work. After all, life in itself is never easy!
Just take things one day at a time, and before you know it, you'll be a resounding success. I have every faith in you that you can make this work.

first let me say congratulations. I really do hope it all works out well for you. My husband once had his own landscaping business in Florida, but it was a second job type of business. He eventually wants to start his own handyman type business, he's really good with his hands and can fix just about anything. We moved up North so it's only been a few years. I would of course take over the "office" type work as all my jobs always entail some form of office work. Right now he is a mechanic for a very large company (works on platics machinery) and I am a 911 Dispatcher. We both like our jobs, but owning your own business is an American dream.. once again congrats and good luck !!

Congratulations, being a Travel agent is a great opportunity. i have an uncle who is a travel agent with ytb (online) and he gets great commission on everything, and lots of discounts for being a travel agent. Good luck with it, its a great bussiness!
