I'm an official 'Travel Agent' now...  

First of Congratulation and pat yourself on the back for making something that is yours. I recently (jan 07 ) started a home based Virtual Assistant Business. It has been slow but it is starting to pay off. I hope all goes well and who knows maybe I will need some travel arrangements made for one of my clients. It is a service that I offer. Good luck and dont be afraid to get out there and sell YOUSELF.

Congrats and good luck to you! Did you start in a building in your town or online or what? Did you get a license? If so, from where? I started a resale shop a couple of years ago and LOVED it! But, I live in a smallish town and it just didn't take off the way I wanted it to. I couldn't pay the bills so it had to close down. I was really upset because I worked so hard on this job for so long, but that's ok. I would love to start another business, but I need money to begin and just don't have any right now. Anyhow, good luck to you! I hope it all works out great. :)

I have a home business as well that makes me $50/month and all I'm doing for it is being a customer. I have customers underneath me, but I'm not selling anything which is the great part. I want that check to grow, but it takes time, I'm really slow at it. You can make a lot of money with it just depends on how many people you talk to everyday. All I did was switch stores for items I was already using every day like shampoo, toothpaste, d.o., laundry and cleaning products. I love them because they are non-toxic and work so much better than products in the stores and they are not more expensive.

first let me say congratulations. I really do hope it all works out well for you. My husband once had his own landscaping business in Florida, but it was a second job type of business. He eventually wants to start his own handyman type business, he's really good with his hands and can fix just about anything. We moved up North so it's only been a few years. I would of course take over the "office" type work as all my jobs always entail some form of office work. Right now he is a mechanic for a very large company (works on platics machinery) and I am a 911 Dispatcher. We both like our jobs, but owning your own business is an American dream.. once again congrats and good luck !!

Well good for you i am so proud of you and i know you will very successfuli have been trying to find som thing my self still looking.

I am not trying to bust any bubbles here but a little shot of reality is very necessary in business (owned a video stored for 20 years, and managed movie theaters for 5). The chances of making a living online are very poor unless you are in a job. There are a few out there, mainly in the US for things like home based call center agents. These provide a living but don't expect to be taking world cruises off your wages. There was a very good investigation into web based opportunities, if memory serves it was ABC and Tory Johnson, it might be on the web.

The idea of making a living off the web thru surf, email, posting here, or using search engines is simply ludicrous. Some might pay on the short term, some will pay low amounts on the long term, but none will provide a living.

The travel agent thing (please don't hate me for this) is generally considered a scam. I had some friends try it and though they made money here and there, it was no way to pay the bills (2 of them doing it, with multiple websites and they never made more than 200.00 a month). As a traveler I simply would not deal with an unlicensed (and therefore uninsured) agent. You have no legal recourse against them.

I hope it works for you but as with any business you can never delude yourself. Hard work can do much but it cannot do the impossible.
