| Car thief captured  | | | |  Last night my wife and I were watching tv late at night when a car came down our drive way. Now, this is a special event. Cars don't usually come down our drive way, especially at night. We live in the middle of nowhere and our drive way is nearly 1/4 mile long. It only goes to our house and there normally is no reason for anyone to come down it except to come to our house.
When the car got near our house, it turned around and left. While it was turning around, we noticed it was a Sherriff's car. Hmmmm... we thought, "What's that about?". But, as the car left without stopping we forgot about it.
Until 15 minutes later this happened again. So, I called the Sherriff's office to see what was up. They informed me they were looking for a fugative who had refused to pull over when the police tried to stop him. They did not think he was dangerous but that my wife and I should stay inside our house just to be sure. They also wanted us to call if we saw anyone lurking about. I said, "Don't worry, we'll stay inside and call you if we see anyone.".
Another 5 minutes passed and a State Police car pulled up to the house and this time stopped. A trooper got out to tell us what was going on. My phone call had prompted them to give me more information.
Some punk (sorry, but that's who steals cars) had stolen a car and the police spotted him. He ran and they thought he had driven down my drive way to hide but so far they had not found him.
However, in a few more minutes they did spot the car a ways off my drive way hidden behind some cedar trees that I've been alowing to grow. It never occured to me that some criminal might use my trees for a hiding place but that's what happened!
The police took the suspect into custody, hauled him off to jail and had a tow truck haul off the car. Nearly as soon as the excitement started, it was over.
My wife and I went to bed and got some sleep.

| |  That has to be scary to have the crime find you all the way out in the middle of nowhere huh? At least things came to a positive end. I am sure you and your wife were relieved to have seen the criminal apprehended so you were not worried about them coming back!
As for my story about the police I usually try to avoid them which is really just a old habit from when I grew up in Chicago because the police are not too friendly there so everyone knows to stay clear of them. The only story I have is when I moved into my new home (Not in chicago) I was cleaning and listening to music when I heard a knock at the door. I amswer it and to my surprise there are two officers at my front door and they were looking for the previous tenant who lived there before me. They had a warrant or subpeona they did not say which and they thought I was the girl they were looking for, they did not believe me when I told them I was not the woman they wanted so I showed them my I.D. to prove it and they questioned me on where this girl was and if I knew her. I of course had never met the woman but they were only satisfied after about ten minutes of grilling me. I thought it was innocent until proven guilty LOl. I consider everyday that I do not have to see the police to be a good day.

| | Police are lied to so much by so many people that are so good at not telling the truth that they have to be very careful and very skeptical. That's why they reacted the way they did. | |  That is a little too much excitement too close to home for me! It would probably make me very uncomfortable knowing a fugitive was out and about. It was really great the sharing and the information from the sheriff's office and the police department! And good to know that the man was caught and you no longer had to worry about him being around! Sorry...I don't have a story to share.

| | It actually was not all that exciting to be there. We just stayed in the house. The police handled everything. We just stayed out of the way by staying in the house.
