my review: Black Snake Moan didn’t even move me enough to groan, moan, or anything; other than a bit of a sigh as my sleepy eyes moved away from the screen and into my pillow with dreams of playfully chained up women. Directed by Craig Brewer, Black Snake Moan is the movie where Christina Ricci is chained half naked and sometimes topless to Samuel L. Jackson’s radiator. Basically Ricci is a nymphomaniac and Jackson is a god-fearing man set on curing her by keeping her locked away. The chained up woman movie is all it really is and all it will ever be to me. Hiding her weird forehead behind some bangs, Ricci flaunts her body through most of the slow first hour or so and the movie never recovers. The story just was not there for me. The acting is fine, Jackson, Ricci, and even Justin Timberlake, however when it all came to a conclusion there just wasn’t enough there entertainment-wise. I was bored. The music plays a key part in the film, to hear the filmmakers tell about it on the special features, and indeed the bluesy sounds work well with the directing style and environment. Once again though: if something with a half-naked girl parading around isn’t able to keep my attention than something is wrong. Critics hail the film pointing two thumbs up here and there, but my thumbs are down and my wallet is down a few bucks that I would rather have instead of having rented this.

I rented this one and watched it tonight. I was having a hard time following it though. I thought the characters did a good job, but the movie plot in general was just hard to track. I had to do a little researching do get the story line, but now I get it.
