Catholic churches only attended by old people??  | |  Some people in my area said that nowadays, catholic churches have been abandoned and left by young people. Only old people attend weekly mass, especially in Europe. It's on the contrary to what's happen in my area (Indonesia).Young people become those who motorize the 'renewal'. We constantly do meeting prayers and attent mass regularly while doing some youngster's catholic projects. If you're in Europe or some other countries, can you 'clarify' this? I hope that's not true and we young people from all over the world should be one to make our church lovable. God bless.

| | | | | | 1.  abroji (1639) | 3 years ago |  I am an Indian. By birth I am a Catholic. But now I don't have faith in the Catholic church. As far as I understand the catholic church is interested in making money. They are not keen on spreading the teachings of Jesus. They are least interested in preparing the young generation for a true Christian life. Instead they propagate to unite and become a bargaining power in social life.
They have many saints and new saints are introduced in almost annual basis. I don't know how it goes in Europe and Latin America, but in India statues of several saints are exhibited in every Catholic church and beside every statue an offering box is placed. It has nothing to do with the spiritual life of it's members. In fact we have not been taught to rely upon any saint to get blessings from God. The only mediater between us and God must be Jesus the son of God. May be these are the reasons for young people to keep themselves away from the Catholic church.

 dpauli (309) | 3 years ago | Yeah, I realized also that sometimes the pastors focus on doing social life, to help those poor peoples, prphanage, etc. But I disagree that it only concern of making money. It gathers money to be donated as you know the priests must live humbly. Here in Indonesia, a lot of 'renewal' movements which widely known as 'Charismatic movement'. It really enriched the church and a lot of people include young people find their intimate Christian life. You should have not leave it. I'm sure soon there'll be renewal in India too. As you know, we have to be balance between our relation with God and others. If you disagree with the church, why don't you do some program that young people in your church still can enjoy it. A lot of old people today as well do not go to the church as many times as they used to including me as the churches today are not like they were when I was growing up and always went every Sunday unless I was sick. Due to most churches are only having their services for money and also have let homosexual be priest when this is against our teachings.

I was actually surprised to find that so many people I know do attend church because I did think that no one did any more. I personally don't because that's not my own belief. And I still don't know if it's just a localised thing in my own town or if it is the same in other places.
