What do you like most about writing?

Poetry makes me free to pour a massive idea in a simple phrase. I am even challenged to link beetwen one idea and another with some analogy in its beauty. And I think it is a mission of every writer to articulate the world of ideas in phrases everyone can grasp. In general, by writing I can keep organizing my thougts.

Really it's just that I want to tell a story. That and there's nothing quite like looking back and realising you've got countless pages in a story that spans not one but two generations of main characters. ;p

i best express myself through writing. i'd rather write my thoughts down, rather than speak them out.

I like the fact that I don't have an audience while I'm working. I used to play the piano, but I could never play for my own pleasure, it was always in the presence of someone else who thought it was absolutely amazing, and who made a big deal out of it. I eventually began to feel like a sideshow freak! I like being able to be creative on my own, and not let people in on the finished product until I'm ready!

As most people have stated here, I seem to communicate better in written form than talking. I also love to write because it is a permanent form of creativity. I go back and read things I have written years ago, and I am able to remember those feelings or recall those memories (like seeing old pictures). I used to travel a lot, and love keeping travel diaries, which chronicle my adventures. It's impossible to remember every detail later, but when you write it down, you have this permanent record of what happened, how you felt, what you saw and did, the people that you met, and so on.

What I like most about writing is that I can create anything when I write. I can invent characters, scenes, or creatures. I just love catching people's attention when I right.

I enjoy writing because it gives me the opportunity to put stuff down on paper. I find that words are anxious to get out (this may sound cheesey), so this way i can have a bit of fun and a good way to make a little bit of money on the side. Writing is like a catharsis. It gets the words that are building up inside, down on paper. What do you like most about writing?

What i like most about writing is expressing myself and getting feelings out there. I love the feel of the words as they come out, almost as if they are something tangible. I love to write for others and I love to write for just myself (ie my journal). For me it almost flows more freely than the spoken word once I get started. Such as this, I could probably not have put it into such expressive words were you to ask me face to face. I talk a good game but I feel like I write a better one:-)

Writing for me is more than just a way to express yourself, it puts you in control. I like to write stories and be able to control the characters, in real life you don't get to control people. There are no boundaries when it comes to writing, you are your creator and people either like your stories or not. Mostly being in control, I would say.
