Did you ever wish that there was such a place as Middle Earth or Narnia? email this discussion to a friend?

I'm a real die-hard Lord Of The Rings and Narnia fan and at times I wish there really were such places...and if I could come across such lands, especially Middle Earth,it be a toss up between wanting to live in an idyllic plaace like Rivendell or the quaintness of The Shire...as far Narnia...it would be fantastic to be able to converse with fauns, centaurs, bears, and of course...a lion.
So did you ever wish there were such places...and do you think that is why these lands have such appeal for us...cause they are so different from our real world??

I wish I could live in the Shire!
I think it would be amazing and fun. Not to mention I would be a giant and therefore a cuiosity and never out of work!
I could do birthdays and weddings...haha I'd be all set:)
Any world different from our own has it's temptations, the dream to escape our humdrum lives is part of what makes us seek out new things and places.*sigh*
I would love to visit Narnia, just to see if talking to animals would freak me out as much as I think it would. lol

i agree with you that other world different from us would be a great ticket to escape from our world because it offers lots of excitement and adventure.

Oh yes...it would be nice. Not as great as Harry Potter land LOL - but it would be really interesting to live in a world full of different kinds of people like in The Lord of the Rings. Or live side by side other animals - talking animals like in Narnia. Of course in both worlds after the evil has been taken care of LOL.

I agree that Rivendell would be the most idealistic place from Middle Earth. Or even the shire. They have a real since of community and a more simplistic way of life.

I'd love to live in the Shire or Rivendell. I think the appeal is there because it is a simpler life. It also of course the other beings that would be there. I know I'd love to meet such and converse with them. To be able to share my life with such and perhaps not have all the problems we have in this world. Another place I wouldn't mind although not listed in this is Xanth, a book series by Piers Anthony that deals with a land by the same name that runs on magic and puns.

I do think the appeal is in the difference and the fantasy. I think of these worlds as so colorful and varied. I like the idea of magic, too. (That doesn't jive with my Christian faith, but I'm a positive thinker that somehow they could work together!) I would enjoy meeting hobbits, drawfs, unicorns, elves, and talking to animals. I would love to have a dragon for a friend and ride it!

You mention unicorns...I'm a Pegasus..or winged horse lover...must go back to my love of Greek mythology...I think the appeal of fantasy type stories has so much appeal and we long for worlds like that to really exist since the world we live in isn't so great..both Tolkien and C.S. Lewis served in World War I...both lost buddies of theirs...Tolkien especially was very descriptive of the evil and battles during the Third Age of Middle age as a reflection of what he endured then...also his creation of the Ents was his love for trees--he was actually known to be a tree hugger!! You might say he was one of the earliest environmentalist--I wondered what he'd be thinking about of all the damage our society has done in the rain forest!

I think a place like Narnia would be awesome!
To talk to animals and live in such a place of beauty!
I have always wondered what animals thought.
And sometimes you can look at an animal and think that animal is seriously pondering something of great importance. Maybe the animal is seeing someone as lunch. But wouldn't it be nice to be able to live with animals in such a manner as humans and being able to talk, rationalize, and learn from them?
A land of magic. A land of dreams. A land of so much beauty.:)

Yes I have wanted to find that other world since I was very young. I relate it to "Calgon, take me away". Or the grass is always greener. I don't really know. Maybe it's the magickal in us that yearn for something much bigger to hold on to.

myLot reputation of 98/100. pyewacket (8226)  1 year ago

I think we perhaps all yearn for magical worlds since our real world isn't so keen to be in--is it?

I think it would be quite fascinating and amazing to live in a place such as those amazing worlds of Middle Earth and Narnia! Such beautilful scenery and wonderful creatures and surprises abound. But if such a world were to exist, then along with it must come the strife and struggles that make the stories behind them, such as the quest for the One Ring and the fight against the dark forces.
