PackRats or Collections???? | | Whatever you call it, my husband and I both do it--------we have lots of STUFF. We like our stuff, house is pretty cluttered but we like it this way. We collect oil lamps, both old antiques and new ones, large ones with fancy shades, and cute little bitty ones. Clocks, specifically wall clocks, but an odd ball sneaks in occasionally. Currently there are three chiming wall clocks hanging here. I consider it a blessing that they don't all keep perfect time, the clanging and dinging when they are in sync could drive you nuts!{or as the relatives say "nuttier"} Lots of other stuff here but I want to know what you collect?

My mom is a pack rat and a collector of different things. I tell everyone I collect gold, rubies, diamonds, pearls, silver, emeralds, garnets, amythest, etc. I only have a small collection going right now, I do hope to increase it. have fun with your stuff.

wifeofharvey (906) | 3 years ago | Exactly how we feel about it. We recently had my husband's brother and his wife here for a couple of weeks. She is one of those people who NEVER save anything, lolololo, I could just see it in her eyes how much she wanted to throw out all our stuff. I was on the phone with my daughter and told her when we were dead they could just burn the place, she said NO WAY, I KNOW there are treasures in there, lolol.

I have kept stuff from their school days. I collect souvenir spoons, and one cup teapots with a cup underneath. I have enough fabric in my sewing room to do me until I am 90.

wifeofharvey (906) | 3 years ago | A lot of those things from my kids school days went up in flames when our house burned to the ground. Thankfully no one was home when it burned so no one was hurt. But, yeah, over the years I have missed not having those precious things around. Like those little hand prints in plaster--------did your kids make those?? And Ihave never seen the one cup teapots! I have several teapots, and the ones I like best are large, I have one that holds a full quart!

wifeofharvey (906) | 3 years ago | Are you specializing in any specific indian tribe, or just general indian stuff. My late father in law really like hunting out the rock tools that indians had used. We all refered to them as his 'indian rocks'. He also had quite a few arrowheads, and taught himself, [with the help of books] how to make his own arrowheads. Many of the family recieved these as gifts.

| | 5. tmlnmr (656) | 3 years ago | Hi my husband and I love stuff! we go to yardsales and get lots of Stuff. We are both pack rats and collectors, I feel there is a diference between the two though. To me a packrat is someone that will keep everything! including re-using saran wrap, or putting it away just incase! My mother-in-law will go through stuff we are going to through out and if there is something in there that isn't completely destroyed then she will bring it home and there it sits on their front lawn or wherever. She has no plan to use it but "Maybe someday!" Meanwhile she has 10 other ones in much better shape. LOL Me on the other hand I am like that with craft supplies I will do the exact same thing because everything can be used as a crafting tool! My husband and I also collect things. We collect anything with wolves on it we have the collector plates with the wolves on it(2 sets) and we have blankets, towels, throws even our border in our living room is wolves. We love wolves! My husband also collects tea pots and my mom started me collecting china dolls but I only got enough for one each for my two children and one for me and my husband bought me two more. I find the cost of them are too much for my budget! I guess you could say we collect stuffed animals as well, I normally will give a stuffed animal to my husband and children in their stockings at christmas of some sorts and quite often I give a stuffed animal for their b.days but not always. So I don't know if you would consider that as a collection or not! LOL

wifeofharvey (906) | 3 years ago | Sounds really good to me. I laughted about the crafting things. I was sewing today and had to force myself to THROW OUT some very small scraps of fabric. Oh, I could use them, in fact I did start to sew some to a base for a crazy quilt type project, then I looked at it, how slow the progress was ----and I pitched it in the garbage!!!! I have so many things I want to do and I sure don't need to add that to the list, and if I keep those scraps I will start it anyhow, grrrrrrrrrr, so many ideas --- so little time.

tmlnmr (656) | 3 years ago | LOL I use my scraps like that to teach others to quilt or do other crafts. Just a thought! Or is it another reason to keep the stuff. LOL
