Is Turtling Effective in AV?

I'm an Alliance player and before the changes in AV the Horde used to turtle a lot. Is it, or was it ever, an effective way to win an AV game?

Any existing wow players here? i was used to spare up my life there for 1~2years as hardcore player in Frostwolf server! i do really enjoy playing wow at that time with the best (by the time) armor and weapon pvping alliance...

Class that is best suited for PvP?

What classes do you think are best suited for PvP? What are your favorite battlegrounds? I personally think warlocks and priests are the best classes for pvp, although I play a mage, I prefer alterac valley.
