Why can't i make a folder with...??

Nobody can creat a folder anywhere in computer with the name "CON". At microsoft the whole team including Bill Gates couldn't answer why this happens. Also there are other names besides CON i.e PRN, AUX, NUL, COM0, COM1, COM2,...
