Dances with wolves and the Sioux. How does it make you feel?

I just watched that great movie "Dances with Wolves". I cannot help but feel sorry for the Sioux. But I guess... that was the whole point of the movie. How do you feel today about the American Indians? Were they the bad guys...

Do any of you see similarities between these two movies? I definitely do. (spoilers) They both were in the American army...they join the opposing side they originally came to the area for... The lead end up falling in love...
