Song birds are missing!

ON the front page of one of our state's(Minnesota) bigger papers there was an article this morning about all the song birds that are missing. They figure alot of them died. Why? The spring was so cold that there were not insects...

someday i would like to get a pair of gliders, how are they with cats..or..how are cats with them? are they easy to manage, i've taken care of a lot of wild, injured animals and i kind of think of it to be on the difficulty level...
