Olympic medal count? What does it mean

So many articles are focusing on two things, the medal count and gold medal count. Are either of these a really good measure of what nation is doing best? First of all, I think scoring should be done like a high school track meet....

I was at a major High School Track meet and was taking photos forthe local paper when I caught this one. To me one of the best action shots at a track meet is the Hurdlers. You are able to capture the action and see the person....
