We saw lots of kangaroos during our walk in the reserve on Sunday. Since it was close to a residential area, we also saw kangaroos in some of the houses and this kangaroo, with a joey in its pouch, comfortably crossing the road....

We drove through roads that had lots of kangaroos. This can be dangerous at sunset as they can hop on to the bright headlights! Thankfully we had an uneventful drive. There were plenty of roos in the fields away from the road, but...

Our small country towns are struggling to survive. Some have had some very innovative ideas in an effort to entice tourists to visit/stay/spend.
The kangaroos and emus here are made from corrugated iron. The emus in particular...

I’ve just written about a wooden map of Australia that is in the tourist centre in Narrogin, Western Australia. I forgot to mention the two ironwork kangaroos that form the support for the timber. You can’t see them very well in...

Nike and Puma have announced that they will no longer use kangaroo leather to make shoes. Did you know that kangaroo leather was even used in shoes? I didn't.
There may be many other companies that use kangaroo leather...

For how little our local zoo is I am always surprised by how many animals they have, and for the last year or so they have been upgrading/updating and expanding. There were several new animals that they didn't have the last time...

The photo doesn’t match the text but is another of the kangaroos that were fighting the other night. They have seen Vince but were too far away to be worried by him. Look at the forearms on that middle guy. I wouldn't want a bear...

Here is another photo of the kangaroos that were fighting yesterday. I forgot to say Vince took all the kangaroo photos this time. The three are still deciding who’ll fight who at this point.
Note how muscular the forearms are....

Yesterday afternoon, we watched a small group of kangaroos feeding on the hillside opposite our house-sit. As we watched, some of the males fronted up to each other and began to fight. It must have been a bachelor mob of males....

There are five baby rabbits at our house-sit but it’s hard to get a photo of them all at once. There is one daisy bush they enjoy nibbling on. They mostly stand up to reach the bit they want but this morning one of them jumped...

This discussion is really to direct you to a link about two women who care for orphan or injured joeys (baby kangaroos). There are some great up-close-and-personal photos and footage of the kangaroos, and a kangaroo hunter also...

It’s Saturday in sunny Western Australia and we’re heading out shortly to hopefully buy some plants for our new home. We’re going to a couple of garage sales that are selling plants. One lady is moving house and getting rid of all...

My last discussion was about our new car and being given a fuel voucher for filling in the evaluation form. This led me to thinking ‘kangaroo petrol’.
I wonder if you’ve ever heard of ‘kangaroo petrol’. This is what Australians...

Our sister-in-law was buried in Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park on Saturday. The Park is often touted as the most environmentally responsible cemetery in Australia. It has been developed and maintained as natural bushland and is...

It’s 6.41am on Wednesday morning in Donnybrook, Western Australia, and once I post this, I’ll need to move myself and wash the last of the floors before locking the doors and heading to our new home in Treeby, a suburb of Perth....

Sometimes I’m asked if kangaroos have any use. Many are killed for pet food. There is a limited market for human consumption except perhaps in outback areas where people consume kangaroo meat as part of their normal diet.
In...
