Actors should or shouldent perform the stunts by their own?

i think actors should perform the stunts upto certain extent,because the movie has to look real.people tend to watch the movies of actors performing their own stunts.Tell me how dont like Jackie chan ,van damm,tony jha(Thai Actor)...
