In the monsoon the ripe papayas are very popular in Bengal. They are orange in colour and sweet in taste. The raw ones are used as vegetables and eaten rice. But the ripe ones are eaten and are good for health also.

Brinjal or egg fruit is another vegetable which grow well in monsoon. Brinjal is called begun in bengali and baigan in hindi. In the monsoon the small formations come. The vegetable becomes ripe in August and september.
