If I don't want to use sugar in beverages, what is the best substitute sweetner with no side effects, which is preferably all natural?

Often we see these tags on products: 'Sugar Free.' On beverages, colas, coffee sachets, chocolates, candies, pies, etc...etc..
But are they really sugar free?
Are these artificial sweeteners really does not have sugar in it?...
