What makes your water break while pregnant?

My husband asked me this last night and I really don't know. Does it just all of a sudden pop like a balloon? Does the baby push so hard that it breaks? or what?

I like this show. Julie kept shopping when her water broke. The sales girl was grossed out and just gave her the make up to get her out of the store. Would you have been that calm? What would you do if your water broke in public?

are you afraid of this happening to you. would you be embarassed. for me it happened in the hospital. i think i would of been embarassed if it happened in public somewhere.
