Affinity to Spiderwebs

My brother in law would actually transfer a spider web to another place so that it would catch other insects and the spider would feed on them afterwards. This is the first time I've heard about such thing though it makes sense but how likely the spiderweb won't come apart when you transfer it? Must need a delicate hand like my brother-in-law's to do that!
