How do you get relief from pain????

Hi!!! Yesterday,I had a minor operation,after having it I cannot tolerate the pain,so I popped up pills,it was not at all according to what the doctor advised. I am just wondering,how do you people get relief from pain????Can...

at the first sign of pain, like headache, do you take a painreliever right away?

i do. i don't want to be bothered by the pain when there's so much work to be done. after all, it's just paracetamol. what harm could there be?
