Was Jim Morrison really a Poet ?

Many of you must have seen "Almost Famous". There is one quote "He's a drunken buffoon posing as a poet". Does anyone agree ?

CSURAMS I think it comes down to what you consider "Poetry". In my mind, Jim Morrison was definitely a poet. His words are filled with imagery among other poetic usages of words. One could even argue that 90% of Doors songs are simply poetry set to a tune and melody....

CSURAMS I feel that if you look at the movie from a theatrical standpoint, it was very good. Val Kilmer is a great actor and he sung all the songs in the movie. I have read that even the surviving band members themselves had trouble distinguishing Val Kilmer and Jim...

CSURAMS Hi don't know if I could pick just one. I bought the 6 disc box set when it came out a couple years ago, and I would definitely recommend that for any true Doors fan. The cd's have songs on them I guarantee not many Doors fans have heard. If I had to narrow...
