Keryden firewire is much the faster of the two and I would say the external is faster. But yea the firewire is by far much faster then a standard usb 2.0

Keryden Perhaps you should try to uninstall it and itunes. Then redownload both before reinstalling the newly downloaded versions. Make sure to only get it from reputable sources.
