grid_runner22 The idea of zamboanga that is not safe is the work of the media and close minded people. Yes bombings in Zamboanga are there, but manila has a lot of snatchers, hold uppers, and even murderers. So I don't think that having this idea is fair for zamboanga....

grid_runner22 You can try my different style of cooking tinola.. This is what I do: First,stir fry (gisa) the onions until light brown. Add crushed garlic and chicken. When chicken turns a a bit cooked you can add potato or papaya. I don't know if you have papaya though....
