gumchu I play both. I listen to all kinds of music from ska to punk to funk and everything else in between. So sometimes playing pick fits the tone but a lot of times I play with fingers to get the deep richness of my tone in my band setting.

gumchu I suggest going into used amps. Try Gallien-Krueger or Ampeg. hartke is great also for not breaking the bank. Overall, just look into Guitar Center's used section or craigslist.
