jvlesnah Talking about history and the importance of preserving once's cultural identity, you of course know that Cebuanos were also instrumental in destroying indigenous culture right? Under Spanish rule, Cebuano soldiers were used to attack villages of tribes that...

Is Nonito Donaire the real deal?

keriyoni @keriyoni (47) • Philippines 9 Feb 09

I just want to ask your opinion about this one. I know he knocked Vic Darchinyan out but after that he has been on a very slow path unlike Darchinyan who he knocked out but recovered fast, moved up in weigt, holds 3 superflyweight...

jvlesnah Nope, Nonito Donair is the "Filipino Flash", Bernabe Concepcion is the "REAL DEAL" hahaha. Kidding aside, Darchinyan may have been a bit too cocky in the first fight, but his punches will always give anybody something to think about, even Donaire in a...

jvlesnah Ignorant of history? Tell me what it is in what I wrote isn't fact? I brought the Katipuneros in because if it wasn't for the North fighting for independence you wouldn't have the freedom you enjoy now and yet you talk about people in the North and the...

jvlesnah History tells us that the Philippines wouldn't be under 300 years of Spanish rule if it wasn't for Cebu, and when the time came where the Philippines decided it wanted independence, Cebu didn't even participate in reclaiming that lost sovereignty! In fact,...

Have you ever passed someone on a 2 lane road?

firecracker @sacmom (14192) • United States 7 Jan 09

Even though passing a vehicle on a two lane road can be dangerous, do you do this? Have you ever done it? How about when it is dark at night or in certain conditions like when it is foggy out? Would you do it then? And while we...

jvlesnah I always do this back in the Philippines. The roads to the Provinces are basically two-lane roads and there would be times when loaded jeeps, slow trucks and buses and even tricycles full of passengers would be in front of you and it would take you eons if you...

jvlesnah I'm just stating facts. Pacman's worth as a boxer and a Filipino icon will not be diminished without the ESPN Champion of Champion award...or we could always pretend that Pacquiao didn't with that award with a deluge of Filipino votes.

Boxers Without a Limelight

finescribe @finescribe (199) • Philippines 30 Dec 08

There are lots of boxers out there who was not even acknowledged. Probably, this is due to the fact that they are not really quite known or they are not being owned by either Top Rank, Golden Boy Promotions, or any other...

jvlesnah Valero career may have been sidetracked because he was not cleared medically to fight in the US, but that is no way a stumbling block to superstardom, but instead should be looked upon as a clear indication that he hasn't faced fighters that could give him...

Would Mayweather's Return be Good for Boxing in General?

jvlesnah @jvlesnah (15) • Japan 4 Jan 09

I don't like his fighting style, I think it is pretty boring to watch. But it seems like a lot of people want to see him back in the ring for one reason or another. Boxing is now being threatened by another combat sport, MMA, and...

jvlesnah Is it Mayweather's defensive skills or did Toprank's matchmaker Bruce Trampler had something to do with making sure Floyd doesn't run into prime Freitases and Tszyus while getting belts facing overmatched Gattis and snail-fast Baldomirs?

jvlesnah Being a hardcore fan doesn't have to be equated with an uncanny love for watching paint dry. The heavyweight division is lacking exciting fighters that is why it is currently in a slump. Pair Mayweather with another boring fighter like Baldomir and you'll find...

What makes a winner, the Driver or the Car?

jvlesnah @jvlesnah (15) • Japan 4 Jan 09

I know it's a balance of both, but if you are to choose only one for a fantasy formula 1 team, would you have a great driver in a competitive car, or an ok driver inside a great car?

jvlesnah We all know it's both, but if you are made to chose one or the other, would you have a team where your Ferrari driven by Heidfeld or would you have a team where Alonso is driving your BMW Sauber?

jvlesnah The questions is who voted for him to be ESPN Champion of Champions, boxing fans or Pacquiao fans alone, which practically means about 90% of Filipino who have internet access. It is hollow victory at best.

Should Pacquaio Fight Hatton in Wembley?

easterangel @easterangel (139) • Philippines 19 Dec 08

There is now talk that the Pacquaio vs. Hatton match is almost close to being official and it will not be long now before the promoters will announce the date and venue. One issue that is contentious according to some write ups is...

jvlesnah The fight will sell whether they fight in Wembley or in Vagas as fightfans would be willing to wake up very early or stay-up really really late to watch a good scrap, Hatton vs. Mayweather was proof of that. Now, the only thing that wouldn't be good if the...
