I need some help here please . I have a doctors appointment tomorrow , but we are only allowed a certain time to chat with them , I have had carpal tunnel syndrome for years and rheumatoid arthritis in my right knee, for a few weeks now I have had terrible pains in my left leg , on the muscle in the calf , sometimes it goes up my leg to my hip and across my back , when its in my(ball of my leg) it makes me feel sick and takes my breath away . The doctor told me quite some time ago that the arthritis would probably spread over my body , As most of you know I care for my Son , my hubby and my parents , whats bothering me is if I can't get something to ease the pain do any of you know anything about arthritis , I have looked in the net but I cant find any good links , Do you know any links? do you know what foods to avoid ? does heat ot cold help? please don't think I am looking for pity because I am not !!. I just want some links or maybe something that has helped you or someone else with this , Thank you in advance for your answers as it is too painful to sit here very long , love to you all xxxxx

Oh weemam, I know its difficult to have rheumatoid arthritis. Although, I have no arthritis, but I have a pretty good idea of what it is. Have you tried taking Glucosamine Sulfate. It is a supplement for the joints and arthritis. I have an Aunt who's been taking this for the last three years. I never heard her complaining of any pain. Try asking your doctor about this tomorrow. Hope this little info help.

I have an aromatherapy book and have looked up arthritis. Apply hot compresses to the affected areas morning and night. Dip a small towel in a basin containing very hot water, mixed with 1 tbsp cider vinegar, 2 drops of Pine and Cypress oils, 1 drop Lavender oil. Follow with an application of an olive or nut oil. Keep the area warm. Pimento massage oil 2 tsp soya oil 2 drops wheatgerm oil 3 drops pimento oil Mix together and apply to the effected areas. Massage in well and then apply a hot compress. Apply soya oil neat to the rea as it may be slightly tender. During attacks it says to avoid: meat, salt, coffee. Benefical foods: artichokes, asparagus, cucumber, cabbage, beans, endive, leeks, radishes, sorrel, tomatoes. apples, bananas, cherries, grapes, grapefruit, strawberries. Here are some links for aloe vera and arthritis. http://www.positivehealth.com/permit/Articles/Aloe%20Vera/aloinf20.htm http://www.positivehealth.com/permit/Articles/Aloe%20Vera/atherton.htm http://www.natural-living.co.uk/humans/arthritis/arthritis.html http://www.the7thfire.com/arthritis.htm Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate together are suppose to be beneficial http://www.glucosamine-arthritis.org/arthritis/knockout-arthritis-5.html Stinging nettles have also been shown to have a positive effect http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/771563.stm http://www.organicnutrition.co.uk/articles/arthritis.htm There is a good online shop that sells lots of different remedies. I have used this site myself, they are relaible and deliver fast. www.planta.co.uk I hope this has helped and I wish you all the best in finding something that will ease your pain. I have arthritis in my finger and find that painful enough. Best wishes x

I am sorry to hear of your plight. Not too much of a help but just sharing what my mum did. My mum has rheumatoid arthritis too. She gets the pain when the weather is cold or rain. The comfort comes from applying a hot/warm towel on the knee. She has been recommended to wear socks to sleep, put on knee guard and not to sleep directly under the fan or aircon. However, I understand that if there is any inflamation, apply cold treatment is better as hot treatment will only make it worst.

Hi Pal! Good luck for your appointment tomorrow. I have had surgery on both my hands well over 10 years ago and not had a repeat performance (even though neuro said it would need to be redone after 5 years) but I have slowed down how fast I type and how hard I hit the keys :D For arthritis I only have it in my ankle where I had an op and was told that heat was a good thing. I know when I go to the water park pool (indoors) with friends or Scouts that it does feel alot better after that :) I tend to avoid salty foods (using them more as a treat) and tend to have fresh, natural foods. I don't know if that would help. Does your GP have a nurse who deals with diet and things? If so, it might be worth asking her/him about that! :D Take care pal xx

Since I don't know anybody else with an arthritis I really haven't had to know any of remedies. But I will pray for you, and trust me, I have an experience that when I pray for other people, God listens to it pretty quickly.

My husbands niece was born with RA. She went from being bound to a wheelchair to being able to walk, stand and dance, after she started the treatment Enbrel. That is my closest experience there. I have OA. I had what my doc thought was carpal tunnel, but I refuse the electrical current testing. Both my doc and my Chiropractor suggest starting with 400 mcg B6 daily, divided throughout the day,for two weeks, then cutting back to 200 mcg. daily. I have actually cut down to taking 100mcg daily for the pain and inflammation of OA and Carpal Tunnel. I do not know if it is effective on Rheumatoid, though. The other thing I do is to use either a filled bag of rice, heated in the microwave, to apply heat, or I use an ointment with capsaicin in it. It warms up like a sunburn, but it relieves pain and inflammation. The first thing you avoid in food is sugar and white starch. Sweeten with honey, molasses, maple syrup, or, I have heard, stevia. I am sorry you have so much on your plate. Luck tomorrow.

Both the disease indicating same psycho sometic reason: Circumstences supressed the expressions of your love(here i want to clarify that love for child, sister, brother, friend; any one could be counted for that) during the life time to time! I am a healer and I have certain reasons to say that: Because we healers believe that mostly our diseases are 99.99% are psycho sometic! Even an accident also occurred because of invitation was sent for that! I have a little suggestin for you that at least for one week try out to write down all your such suppress expresion which you wanted to show but can't able to express! Just light a candle and if want to pray about then pray and then open your diary and write down! Then read again quitely feel to cry then cry and then j ust submit the pages to the light/i mean to the candle for ever! And pray that this will heal your hurts and remove the disease from the root! I think this is for now and if you do that then surely ask what to do next!

Sorry to hear of all your health problems weemam. I was curious about your carpal tunnel, and wondered if you have had an operation for it. I used to suffer with the same thing, but had an operation last year on both wrists, and now I feel like a new person - no pain anymore. If you haven't had them operated on, you should ask your doctor about it.

When you go to the doctor take a list of things you want to tell him and questions you want to ask. Ask him about books to read. He may have literature in his office. Educate yourself, it will help you cope.

My doctor listens to everything I have to say no matter how long it takes. A truly good doctor should do that for all his patients. I don't have any good recommendations for you at the present time other than you need to find yourself a good arthritis doctor. One that specializes. They will be able to tell you what diet to be on and what meds will help. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope it works out for you.

I have arthritis in my hands and ankles, so I know how you feel. Warmth helps alot. A heating pad on the area for a little while helps. I can't take a lot of different medications, so that is what helps me. Also low impact excercise can help, such as walking, it strengthens the muscles around the joint. I know I feel better when I excercise, even a 20 minute walk a day.

First off You need to write down all your concerns on paper and hand that to your doctor first thing. I found about ten years ago that this was the best way to do it because I would alway forget half of what I wanted to tell the doctor. So I started writing it down and using it as a check list while I was talking to the doctor. Then my doctor asked me to just hand her the list. It became very efficient. After all the doctor only has ten to twenty minutes to see you. I have been suffering from arthritis since I was twelve years old and have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Degenerative Joint Disease, Ankolosing Spondinitis, Poly Arthritis, Osteo Arthritis and Sacroiliosis (Please exuse my spelling). The pain can be unbearable at times and I seem to have good days and bad days. One key is for the doctor to find the right medicine that works for you. I went through a lot of different ones until they found ones that worked well for me. Do not be limited to just one medicine. Ask him to recommend alternatives and possible perscription for one to try out for a month and then have an apointment to eveluate it. Not all medicines work the same for everyone. I am curently on sulindac for the inflamation and pain, sulfasalazine for the rheumatoid arthritis and have been getting remacade injects for the last 11 months. I have to say that the new medications like remacade and humira work a lot better then the old beta blocker medicines that have now been mostly pulled off the market. I have tried a lot of the suppliments and herbal remadies and did not find one that worked for me but my parents swear by glucosomine, chondrotin and MSM in combination. I just read an article in Arthritis Today magazine that said the MSM also helps as a mood modifier so it helps people with depression that often accompanies the other health problems. My Grandmother used to use cider vineger as a treatment. I found a link at www.earthclinic.com/CURES/arthritis.html. My grandmother also avoided red meat (except liver which she said to eat a lot of. Yuck!) and avoid plants in the night shade family like tomatos, potatoes and peppers. There are also the capsican products that people have told me worked good for them. go to www.arthritis.org for information from the Arthritis Foundation. It has given me a lot of help. I hope this helps you some.

Oh that is terrible that when you go to the doctors that you only have a certain time to talk to your doctor we do not have this where I go to my doctors just incase we do have big problems that are making us worried about our health. I did suffer something similar a few years ago and luckily I had something to take for this to that it went away. No I do not know of any links on the internet unfortunately regarding this. I do also know that ginger should help in regard to this problem, and I understand the pain I will look in my health encylopedia for you and if there is something there regarding this I shall send it to you today xx

Well, I can advise avoiding tomatos & hollow peppers. Even potatos, esp. the skins can also agrivate the inflamations.

Walk in and give the doctor your list, write a short summery of your ills. He will be able to go down the list with you in a short time.

Hi Wee,Sounds like sciatica to me.I had a severe case last fall.Nothing much helps but letting it calm down but you will need some pain meds.Try to rest it as much as possible because if it's sciatica it is caused by inflamation and swelling around the nerves. You will need an anti inflamatory drud also like aspirin, ibuprofen. Do you know what kind of arthritis you have. When you find out for sure what it is I can tell you what herbs to help it.No matter what it is if there is pain an arnica gel rubbed on the site will help alot.Arnica is also very good at making bruises go away quickly. Love Ya Sis xoxoxo
