Can you believe this? Someone is killing the Adelaide Rosellas. A beautiful native bird, they have brought joy to many a person over 200 years of settlement. They are a stunning colour, & bright & cheerful. Over the past few days, at least 200 Adelaide Rosellas have been found dead or dieing. The cause is not natural, & it has been determined that a poison has been used. Someone has mostly likely poisoned a water source, laced with honey to attract the birds. The deaths have been occuring in a specific area, so the killer is likely to be in the Adelaide foothills. Apart from the totally unecessary actions of this person in killing these beautiful birds, there is the risk that other native animals, pet cats or even children could access this same water source that has been poisoned. I hope they find the culprit soon.. I have attached a photo of trhe Adelaide Rosella.

I hope they catch whoever is responsible for poisoning these beautiful birds. What a shame. And to think that other pets and even people could be harmed by this, it should be investigated until they find whoever is doing it and put an end to it.

How sad I am so often ashamed of being a member of te human race. Birds are drying here too. That ones that migrate to South America are being poisoned by the heavy, cheap, powerful pesticide used by the farmers in that country. It makes the birds so ill and weak they cannot fly back home. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070420/bird_pesticides_070421/20070421

I greatly appreciate your concern for the falling birds. In fact, sage Valmiki got his inspiration to write Ramayana after seeing a bird falling in the hands of a hunter. You will someday attain the mental state of a 'Rishi'.

I had never heard of this bird but it looks absolutely beautiful. Why would someone be so cruel? I hope this is not harmful to children and other animals and that they find the culprit soon. Perhaps someone should poison him and see how he likes it.

Can it be determined if they are actually targeting this beautiful bird, or if it is a victim alongside another target? Could someone be putting out poison for a pest like rats and the birds find it to---like poisoned grain for bait? Jenny please keep us posted, even the smallest creatures in our world are important to the world, I hate to hear of this, and I would like to hear it resolved. I do not like to think of a species being specifically and maliciously targetted.

Thats just crazy. Why would anyone want to hurt those poor innocent birds? Its probably someone with a very sick mind. And I wonder if they ment to kill other things besides the birds. That is very scary.

Over 200 in the past few days??!! omg! that is tragic! things like this are just beyond my comprehension. i just dont understand why some ppl do these things to animals! i hope they find the murderer and that he is punished for it..big time! rosellas are beautiful birds! which brings up the question..what other species are dying that hasnt been found yet. cause 200 birds would mean a decent sized water source and that means more than just one species that frequents it.
