help to lose weight? I started a walking routine about a week ago. I have been walking 2 miles a day and I am hoping this will help me to lose a little weight. It's been a long winter and I wasn't active mush over this period of time. I don't do any other kind of workout just the walking. What I am going to try to do is increase my mileage by one mile every week. So far I have yet to see any results in my weight. I am wondering do you think I will lose weight if I stick to this routine? If so how long do you think it will take before I see any results? I am getting discouraged already but will continue doing this because I am so determined to lose weight. Please share your thoughts views and opinions here. Thanks!

I have been trying to lose a little weight myself and found that walking has been a bit of a help. It's not so much that walking just works off some weight, it helps to tone you up too. I have stopped going to the local shops in my car now, and I walk instead, it has helped a little so keep at it

walking helps us save some money, too. hehe. and true. it helps us tone some muscles as well. even if it does not give miraculous losing weight results quickly, there are lots of benefits we can get from walking.

Hi, sjohnon, I tried walking as exercise to lose weight last year. I just walk to go to work. So, I always spend 2 hours everyday to go and back for walking from work. I like walking very much, I can see people and car all along the road, get into any shop I want easily, breath fresh air in the morning. Well, as to lose wight, I suggest you to get exercise by jogging. You know, I walked such a long way everyday last year, but I don't see any big change on me, well, yet I just keep it, didn't put on weight.

I used to walk everyday. In the beginning I didn't see results. But it took a couple weeks for my body to adjust and then I saw results. A friend of mine started walking. She walked a couple miles everyday, drank more water and changed her eating habits and lost 120 lbs. So it can be done it just takes discipline, determination, and patience. Walking alone is good but if you just add one more thing to it like drinking more water or something then it will help increase your results. And I don't know if you are a soda drinker at all but I quit drinking sodas once and in 1 week I lost 5 lbs. Can you believe it? I didn't even exercise or diet or anything. I just replaced soda with water. Who woulda thought it?

I have never been the "exercise" type of man throughout my whole life. I've also never been the type that needs to lose weight. Ever since dad has moved in I don't get about as much as before. I bike ride with the wife a little in the summer but not as much as I should actually. I do a lot of walking around the house etc. I walk my buddy Buster & that's a lot of walking there as he hates the short walks. Hahaha! I get my main exercise from all the gardening I do every spring/summer. In the winter it's mostly walking the malls window shopping. Once in awhile we get a room at the casino overnight. Those times I use the swimming pool, the sauna, the spa, and the exercise room mostly using the treadmill. So I do get my share of exercise I guess. I thin you should join the mall walking program if you have a shopping mall near you. They open up early for the walkers. I'm sure they'd have some info on results you can expect from a vigorous walk daily. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Excercise for keep fit and gaining daily life with at ease! Excercise keeps the person alert and with proper postures at any time! But what kind of excercise can help to do so and how much time we have to give for such promotional thing?! This question also should be consider because of the personal condition regarding body and its overall apearence! Then comes the type of excercise: jogging, walking, yogasans, breathing, running, pull ups, gym or other.... What suites the person could be decided by the person or the excercise master of the person! ZThen the things will be ok for the person!

I walk four days of the week and walk for 45 minutes. I haven't lost weight but I have stayed the same weight for a while. I believe that if you walk at least an hour at a fast pace, you will lose weight eventually.

Walking ...it's the best form of exercise everyone can afford to have.. it needs no expensive gadgets or equipments. Walking is refreshing and it does prevent weight gain.

The amount of calories you burn per mile can be calculated with this formula: Your weight x 2, then divide that by 3.5 So if you weight 140 pounds, you would burn 80 calories per mile. Since there are 3,500 calorises in a pound, you would have to walk 43.75 miles to burn 1 pound of fat. At 2 miles a day, it would take nearly 22 days to lose 1 pound. That sounds a bit depressing, but when you combine it with a reduced calorie diet, you will see results sooner. Of course, the more you weigh, the more calories per mile you would burn. The best weight loss regimen would include a combination of cardio and weight training. The more muscles you have, the faster you burn calories.

I walk to get exercise but I have a treadmill to use. i hardly ever have alot of time to get on it so I really do not know if it will help me lose weight or not. I prefer to use an exercise bike. That really makes me drop the pounds off. I think if you stick with the walking pogram and watch the amount of food you eat, pounds should start to come off. I am thinking about starting me a daily routine and making more time to get on my treadmill. I am anxious to see the results also.

It does help in the process to lose weight but it does take time. You must power walk swinging your arms as you walk and you need to walk distances. I need to start again but first I need some good walking shoes.

Definitely walking is a good form of exercise but like all any other exercises, if you will not accompany it with proper diet, you will not lose any weight at all. The best way to lose weight is to lessen your intake of foods rich with carbohydrates

First - don't get discouraged. It takes a while to kick-start your metabolism. Switch it up - speed up your walking every few minutes. Try to go up and down some stairs. Change your eating habits. Often times we only make one change and expect that to suffice, but you really need to change your life style habits. Walking is a wonderful way to get in shape - both mentally and physically. Don't give up =) Good luck!
