Would you shop at Wal Mart or other discount stores if you were rich?

I was wondering if anyone who usually shops at a discount store like Wal Mart would still shop there when they can afford to shop at any other store they want?

I'm sure- I can't see me not ever shopping in a Wally world again- Right now I shop there for cleaning supplies, toys, dvds, music, etc. Never clothes-- so heck yes I'd still shop there for that kind of stuff--- my house won't clean itself! lol I'd just be able to buy more!

For me, I actually buy some clothes there, though most of them really don't fit right. They have great deals on gym shoes and sandals.

That is why I don't purchase clothes there- Nothing fits and they don't last as long- I have tried before- I used to buy my daughter clothes there when she was a little squirt- Now we shop at Penney's and Limited Too mostly- I'd still shop there though- I love Wal-Mart!

The well to do who have earned their own wealth have gotten there by shopping for the best value for their money. If that can be found at a discount store, you can bet they will be shopping there. They make their money work for them, and spend cautiously.

I would definitely still shop at those discount stores because what I have discovered so far is that not everything that you want to buy is available at those high profile stores and sometimes simple things that you need can be easily bough form those discounts marts.

Yes, I go there for all my basic needs because I can get everything pretty much on one trip.

I think I would. It's so convient. It has everything I need to buy. I also don't really care about name brand stuff, and I find myself buying the store brand from Target and Walmart any way. Plus if I ever got rich, I think I'd like to stay that way!

I agree, those stores have everything. I think I wouldn't totally stop shopping there, but I would buy a lot more when I did.

People with a lot of Wal-Mart stock might...wouldn't you want to check up on your assets? LOL. Wealth is such a relative term anyway. Have you ever heard of Hetty Green? Here is a web page that tells a little about her: http://www.institutionaladvisors.com/story-witch.htm Although she was worth $5 million dollars, she ate in the cheapest run-down restaurants and chose the least expensive items they served. She wore torn clothes and sold her newspaper after reading it! Yes, I would!

He he. I actually own Wal Mart Stock, but I'm thinking of dumping it because it fluctuates too wildly for me. I lived next door to someone in Detroit who was one of Henry Ford's CEOs. He was a millionaire, but had a modest home. You wouldn't have known he was rich because he lived such a modest lifestyle. But, I think I've heard of Hetty Green. I think she may have had a mental condition. Howard Hughes also looked like he was homeless, especially when his condition worsened.

Well, I'm keeping mine! It is not doing great at the moment, though, I'll agree with you there. In my view, true wealth is about being happy. It is nice to have enough to get by on with some left over as a cushion, but much more important to have enough common sense to know how to enjoy life with or without a lot of money. Wealth doesn't seem to help people with their personal relationships. Hetty and Howard are extreme examples, but I can think of quite a few people who have more material assets than we do, but are not as content. I just cannot imagine someone buying a newspaper, reading it, and then selling it, though! That just boggles my mind.

I probably still would shop at Walmart. I like to get the most for my buck. I might venture to other clothing stores, but to be honest I've already done that and seem to end up back at walmart.

Personally I Love WalMart and some of the wonderful bargains you can get there. I would still have to shop there probably for Groceries and some of the other items I get there, as there prices are very reasonable for this. And prescriptions as well I get Great deals and service compared to other places as well. Overall, people who choose not to shop at stores such as this are cheating themselves. To me, one of the best places you can ever go to shop is WalMart, and I Love to visit ones all over the US even.

I do a lot of my shopping at Wal-Mart now and I think that I would continue to shop there no matter how much money I had. I don't believe in throwing it away just because you have it, but in spending it wisely. That wasn't the way I was raised, and I think that my parents did a great job of raising me. I hope that I have instilled such a good set of values in my children as my parents instilled in me.

Even if I am rich one day, I won't spend money in a wrong way. As I know my money won't come easy. I earn it by my efforts. I will buy the things with good quality and reasonable price. Luxury products are not suitable for me.

Of course, it is a good bargain. Why not? I had a friend who is from a above average family, they still shop at discount store like dollar tree. Unless, they are extremely rich and have status cautious. Then, that too bad they have to pay premium for the same item. But, they are rich anyway. :)

I think I would like to shop the discount stores, still, because they have sooo much stuff to choose from! I can always find something fun to buy there.

Some of the richest people in America shop at the Walmart and Target. They all have one little secret. It doesn't matter how much money you make, it's how much you actually save. True wealth comes from accumulated money, not pure income. What is that old saying. Invest your money, live off the interest and never touch the principle. You can't expect to sustain your wealth if you're constantly blowing it on every new gadget or store that comes along. And, whether you choose to save money by shopping at the Walmart or online at Ebay, you'll find that you can live a richer lifestyle on modest means, than someone with triple your income.

What you have said is very true. But, I have heard a lot of very rich people say that they would never set foot in a store like Wal Mart. Remember Paris Hilton when she asked if the sold walls there? In our two richest communities in my area there are no discount stores at all (There aren't any convenience stores, either).

I sure wouldn't. I just hate how Wal*Mart and other stores like that are so crowded and people always seem so angry at those kinds of stores. If I had a lot of money I'd go to the stores that most others couldn't afford just to avoid the crowds. Plus, I'm sure the quality would be better.

Good question? I'm pretty aggravated with Walmart these days. Seems like everytime I go to the supercenter to buy groceries they're out of something or have quit selling something I regularly buy! If I had the money and time wasn't an issue, yes, I probably would shop somewhere else just because of the reasons I mentioned above.

Our city council is trying to ban the supercenters here because they think they would cause problems. We have to go up to Riverside county to shop at a supercenter, which is a drive of at least 80 miles. What about other discount stores such as Target or Sears? Would you shop at those places?

Of course I would...just because I could afford to shop in pricey places doesnt mean I wouldnt want to save a buck and get a good deal....LOL hell I'd still shop at flea markets and yard sales too and the Salvation Army stores....You could have all the money in the world but still want to get bargin prices and great deals...that way you'd hang on to your money longer LOL

I think I would still be frugal and not waste my money. With the money I'd save by being careful and frugal I could use the extra money to help others. That's my take on the issue anyway :)

it depends on what i want to buy. if i were rich, i would like to go to wal mart to buy something expensive and important for myself, such as, shampoo, moistruizing shower cream and so on.because the goods in that shop have a guarantee, i use it without thinking. if i were rich, i also would like to go to other discount stores to buy something i need, such as discount clothes, discount shoes something like that.it is not easy to earn money now, so if i can save money just save money.hehe. this is my opinion.nice to share with you. thank you.

I think I would get those specialty salon shampoos if I were rich. But, you can get some good shampoos at Wal Mart, too.
