A full day of cooking

Yesterday, i spent the whole day in the kitchen. I just felt like cooking, and kept going. The kids helped a bit too, as they like cooking. I made fried rice, curried salmon casserole (usually i use tuna but i had none but it was still yummy), shepherds pie, rice bubble slice, honey joys, chocolate crackles, mini donuts. Then we had lamb chops for tea. Do you ever get in a real cooking mood? Do you let the kids help in the kitchen? The only part i dont really like is cleaning up, but yesterday i didnt even mind doing that.

Yes I sometimes like to spend a day in the kitchen cooking. I usually plan a grocery list, go shopping. then I plan my day. I like to cook up a bunch of meals and freeze them. It makes it so easy to take something from the freezer and cook it in no time. And since we now have a dishwasher the clean up is much easier.

I enjoy spending the day baking and freeze food for future meals. My favorite foods are muffins and cookies to bake. Many of the cookies and muffins have so many additives in them from the grocery store.

Very true about the additives. I much prefer to cook them myself or get the kids to make muffins or cookies as they enjoy making them. Thanks for your response and best wishes to you.

Every now and then, I will get into a cooking mood, but I hate the cleaning up afterwards. Sometimes the kids help me in the kitchen, it just depends on what I am cooking.

Or maybe wiggle the nose and it's all cleaned up, that would be nice too, hehehehe!

The cleanup isnt the best. The kids dont like the cleanup either. But i suppose that comes with the cooking. I would love a little magic cleaning fairy to come and do the cleaning. Thanks for the response, chook, and best wishes

oh every week end for me is a big day of whole day cooking. I have to cook for each differently. My son likes noodles, and my daughter likes indian chicken curry,my mother in law is heart patient so some saltless and oilless food for her, my hubby and me mostly like vegetarian, so some vegetables, and pulses and rice and home made bread, and salads and some snaks for breakfast...oh.......by evening i feel so tired. And let me tell you, my son never helps me because he is still small (16 years old.......lol) and my daughter will help only if I will tell her (and she knows I will not tell her much....). But whatever.....I love cooking and I love when all like my cooking.

You do have a big day cooking. It is really good when they all like your cooking, it means you must be a good cook. The indian chicken curry sounds yummy. Thanks for your response, and best wishes

I sometimes get in the mood to cook, but it sounds like you really went all out. If I'm going to really do a lot of cooking I don't mind if the kids help, but only if they are really helping. I can't have them standing between me and what I'm doing. Hopefully they will be willing to help with cleanup too.

yes, i did heaps. But i havent felt like cooking since. I seem to have splurges like that. I find that the kids like helping, but clean up is different. Or sometimes when they do, i have to go over a few things that dont get done properly. Thanks for your response, kelly, and best wishes

I don't often do as much cooking as that but I do enjoy it and usually cook for myself most days. I made a yummy peanut caramel slice the other day and you already know about the vege soup. The trouble with me cooking is that I eat too much. Last night I made a tuna dish and had 1 and a 1/2 helpings. I polished off the rest at lunch time so I'll only have a toasted sandwich for dinner tonight. I love my fried rice but haven't had shepherds pie for years. Tomorrow I'll be making a rich beef curry, and I have an idea in the back of my head to make a chocolate cake. I usually clean up as i go but lately I still have a mountain of washing up at the end of things...hmmm. I don't mind the cleanup usually ...it's the putting everything away that I don't like...lol. Hope your boy is fine now. The sweets will probably make him feel better. Yummy.

Id love the recipe for the peanut caramel slice. Sounds yummy. I polished off my curried salmon a bit quick. But it was really good. The washing up always seems to mount up in my home. I dont know where it all comes from. My boy is quite good now. Thanks for your response and best wishes
