It is from the time in life where we break out of the classroom learning situations that we really discover how we are exposed to more learning. It is then that real education begins ...Education- it doesn't end with school or college.

For me education is a life long process, its not only when we enter school that we becomes educated. OF course from the moment we entered school, we were thought a thought a lot of things that are helpful to us in the future or in our everyday life. What is important for me is applying what we have learned in school in reality like in ouir work or on how we lived our everyday life. Thats the real challenge, putting what we have learned to the test.

Read Education begins shortly after you are born. The most influential years of a child's life is from age up to 3 years. I was reading to my daughter when she was 6 weeks old. Thyat's not to say that your views are not correct. Real life experinces can be invaluable, for one who is prepared to learn from them.

Real education begins the day of your birth, or even before. School is just something that the government, or society requires of us, to level the playing field and insure that the minimum is mastered. It does not necessary guarantee that anything is learned, only that they can pass tests. I agree, after school is over or out, the real learning, testing and experiencing happens. School perhaps has handed us the tools. The language to express our thoughts, but our thoughts were there first, the numerals to frame a mathematical theorem, but the grand arch and swing of the world is dependent on math, whether we can express it or not. My opinion only, of course.

Real education really begins at: 1)Play-ground, 2)Picnic-party, 3)Nature-watching, 4)Piligrimage, 5)Spiritual discources and seminars, 6)Forgiveness, 7)After passing the examination, 8)Facing adversity, 9)Modesty and 10)Overcoming lust, bad temper and violence. In its real sense, real education does not carry any syllabus, teacher and institute! It also doesn't seeks certificate or marksheet to show off its grade. Only it is felt effectively by the surrounding persons. It carries equality for all irrespective of cast creed and status in society. Otherwise education can be assumed as virtual, carrying only an echo of reality. Thanks for this core topic.

Formal education begins when we start school. Then again, education is not restricted to what we learnt in class. It also, as you said, doesn't end with college. So where does it begin, i think it is LIFE - vast. From the macro to the micro aspect of life is education to me. For example, showing respects to our elders, that is simply mannerisms which goes to show good character. This, is not taught in school but will set you up for life because we will be respected by others when we show our respects to others. Another example would be emotional quotient. Never a subject taught in school. But with a high emotional quotient, a person has a high social intelligence that he can use to adapt to new situations. In laymans' terms, never out of place as he is able to fit in. All this boils down to 2 very different things though similar in some ways. Intelligence vs knowledge. To me personally, an education consists of both. Great topic as always! - Lyn

Wonderful topic! Do you know I actually got a bit depressed when I graduated college because for some reason I got it into my mind that my learning days were over with...Far from it!! I think during the years after college I learned more than I ever could have in a school type environment

Real education begins inside the mother's womb. A foetus only few weeks old begins to perceive things expressed by the mother. Hence it is said that a pregnant woman always be exposed to positive and nice things and she never utter bad words. Even its said that chanting some shlokas gives positive energy to the baby and if the mother practices meditation it gives benefit to the foetus.

I am reproducing one Sanskrit "sloka" below : " We achieve the first quarter of education from our master, the second quarter by ourself, the third from our friends and the last quarter by passing of time " ( Acharyal Padamaarbdhe, Paadam shishyaswamedhaya, Paadam Sabrahmachaaribhya:, Paadam Kaalakramena Cha" )
