Why are banned members still here?

I don't know who has been banned and who hasn't except for one that someone else posted about (of course I was dumb enough to reply and the post was deleted). Now this someone that was banned; their profile is still active and people are still replying to her posts.
If someone is banned why is their profile not deleted?
If someone is banned why is their IP not banned so they can't do what so many do and come back under a different name? I would love to understand this.

i think because a profile is not related to an ip... and you can ban an ip, that user can just as well enter from another one. and if the discussion is ok, why shouldn't others be allowed to ... discuss it? :)
i didn't know that someone can be banned around here...

Yep people can be banned. I know that the IP and profile are not connected. I thought I had made that clear by asking two questions.
I don't have a problem with anyone continuing the 'discussion' my concern is more how they make sure that person isn't getting paid.
Of course you can ban an IP and enter from a different one but most people only have one or only have access to one (however they acquire their internet service).
I am just really curious why myLot does all these clean up of discussions, bans people and then they don't take the time to remove the banned people. I am wondering if they do that to make the community look larger than it is. (just like not deleting people who have never posted at all)

i don't know yet if you have to request the payout or if mylot sends it to you imediately, but if you have to request it you can't do that if you're banned. if that is not the case... i really don't know :(
and deleting the unactive users... auci! i think i know why. it would take an administrator to lose his life and start the cleaning up around here. but if they have enough space, a big database should not be the problem... i don't think "empty" users take so much space.
have a nice day ;)

Being banned is not a permanent thing so that's why the profile etc is left in place. I was banned and created a new account under the wifes email to find out why. My profile etc was still there and friends responding. A ban is just that, a ban. It is not barred or deleted.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I read about it in a discussion. Don't remember which one. I just remember odd things.

If I remember correctly though; you were banned for doing something you didn't know was wrong. I guess I mean people who are banned for repeatedly violating the rules. I guess in that case I would mean barred?
You were posting pictures (to my best recollection) and they said you were abusing that. Of course they didn't tell you that until after they banned you and you came back to ask why.

I have had the same question myself. I know of one person who was caught plagiarizing, and everything that ever pertained to him was removed. I think banned people's discussions are still here, or else we would lose everything that they have posted. It would be nightmare of book keeping. Maybe they do not block the IP address in hopes that some will learn their lesson and straighten up. I have had friends whose accounts have gotten blocked, and they never knew why, so they just came back as someone else. I do not think I see consistency here, and I do not know who is banned, and who is just taking a break.

I was wondering the same thing. It seems to depend on the severity of the infraction I think. I have seen one users discussions and responses TOTALLY wiped out, but the profile picture remained, strange.
I wonder the same thing about the IP. I know that's the case on other message boards?!
Maybe someone else has better answers, I am curious too
