Okay grandpa Bob is really dumb for some reason today. I drink a lot of coffee. I am also a nut when it comes to my coffee pot and the cleanliness of it. I hate my wife making the coffee as she has the grounds all over the counter and outside the filter. But this isn't about that actually. I went and made me a cup of coffee. Some coffee dripped onto the hotplate of the coffee maker. So dumb me grabs a paper towel, wetting it I started to rub the hotplate to clean this drip so it doesnt burn onto it. Well duhhhh! Of course the plate area was hot as hell. Now I have a huge blister on my index finger due to my stupisidty? That was soooo dumb. HAHAHA! So have you done somthing so dumb that right after it happened you wanted to slap your forehead saying, "Gawdd I'm an idiot!"? This shows I did just a few minutes ago. It's hard to type with the use of the index finger also. Back to 4 finger typing for me I guess. HAHAHA! have a great day/evening as well.

Oh I have done that before actually a few times.. You'd think you know you'd learn after the first time... Oh not it takes me about 3 or 4 times to learn my lesson.. Here's on I just got down cooking and i have an electric stove thinking it was cooled off enough and well it so happens it wasn't I went to wash it with a wet wash rag and ended up burning myself.. Some of the things some people do.. We don't think before we act i guess you can say...lol

We have a gas stove but I really want one of those electric stoves that dont have the bruners actually. Its all a flat surface. they have some that cool off immediately also. But gas is cheaper than electric. But as I've told my wife we don't use the stove that much.

I didn't know they had those, This stove has been here for a long time so they aren't the kind that cool that quick.. I wish.. Maybe I'll invest in one or something but take it with me when I leave.. I do rent so I am not sure what the landlord might think about it...lol

Yes, I have done a dumb thing like that. Many years ago, I went to the safe to clean it out.
I had lifted the lid, & forgot that it doesn't spring back. It slammed shut on my finger, slicing off the top of my left thumb.
I quickly retrieved the bit of finger, wrapped it in a towel, & rang my father & asked him to take me to hospital.
They sewed the top off my finger back on, although there is bno feeling in it.

When I was a machinist I caught the tip of my index finger in a machine ripping off a good chunk. Not enough to warrant sewing it back or anything like that. Juts a good heavy duty bandage did the trick to heal the missing chunk. But after returning from the emergency room the foreman says, "here Bob you want this or not?" It was the big chunk of flesh. It's like No way boss. HAHAHAHA! thanks and have a great day.

I can not count the many times I have burnt myself doing the same as you did and many other stupid things. Sometimes I make some food in the frying pan in the oven and a while after it is taken out, I forget that the handle is still HOOOT!!!
But I have a cure - as soon as I burn myself, I turn on the water tap and hold the hand under it. The pain stops and after some time - sometimes a rather long time - it does not hurt anymore - even when I turn off the water.
So water is a great cure and you should do this treatment at once after you have burnt yourself. It will diminish the damage of your finger or whatever you have burnt.

Yeah I do the cold water or ice routine as well. But that doesn't help the blistering. Owwwieeee! HAHAHA! Thanks also for the response.

When I was much younger, I put my whole palm down on a hot cookie sheet as it was sliding down an open oven door, and it had my own and my little sister's dinner on it, folks were gone. One of the few times they ever left us home, and I was 13 or 14. I hate burns, and blisters. I hope it heals really fast. I recently rubbed a blister on my thumb and index finger using a pencil sharpener and trying to get pencils sharp for the classroom before school started. I am glad it healed quickly.

I hope it heals soon. I have done stuff like that before. I have put clothes in the dryer before and then come back to get them to fold and realize that I never even turned them on to dry. LOL Then I want to smack myself in the forehead. I haven't ever gotten burnt by the coffee pot though cause we don't drink much coffee at our house.

I no what you feel like grandpa Bob with that burn on your finger.
I did the same thing that you did. But more than one time. I guess I will never learn. My husband and I drink a lot of coffee also. My coffee pot keeps dripping about 3 minutes after the coffee is done. And I get in a rush and take the pot off the hotplate to soon and the coffee is still dripping.
So I grab a paper towel and wipe off the hotplate and burn my fingers just like you.

Yup, sounds just like something I did that was equally (or maybe more..) stupid! I was baking a casserole a few weeks back and opened the oven door to make sure the casserole wasn't bubbling over into the oven. It was, and I freaked...not wanting my clean oven messed up, without thinking I reached in and grabbed teh dish!!!! yup...burns on thumb, and all 4 fingers!!! Some nurse I am.

Owwww! All too familiar to me. I have grabbed the hot rack in the over thinking it had cooled off enough. Duhhh! That's why they invented potholders Bob! HAHAHA! Thanks for the memory as well. Ugghhh!

I have done this several times in the past, so don't feel bad! But yes, I have had a "duh" moment on several occasions. Such as taking a damp towel and trying to remove a hot pan from the oven when there are perfectly good oven mitts within my reach!

I've also used towels many times with mitts and potholders scattered all over the kitchen. HAHAHA. I hate the wet towel and heat combined.

Good going Grandpa Bob! You have to more careful-
I have done this several times- I mean something really dumb- Yesterday at dinner I grabbed a hot potato out of the microwave and burned my thumb- Ouch- I immediately dropped the potato and it landed on the floor- so I tossed it.
Over the weekend- I used a hand towel to take out the pizza pan from the oven- It was so hot! The towel wasn’t a great one and it did not protect my finger- I burnt it- The dumb thing is I have potholders within my reach!

Awww poor Grandpa Bob! I have done so many things like this you wouldn't believe - like the time I tried to clean the iron when it was still on! GThe latest D'uh moment though was when I had just sent my best friend a text message and she called me from her mobile before it arrived - she told me her phone had just beeped and I told her I had sent her a text then waited a few moments before asking if she had read it yet! Well that was a big D'uh - she even had to explain to me that she couldn't read it as she was still talking to me on the phone. As usaul I blame the medications! xxxx
