hello my name is craig and not so long ago i was on a web site call gumtree looking for a stay at home job. well i was on gumtree i noticed a jobs and the job was reciving cheques on a company behalf and forwarding it on. doing this i got to keep 10% of the profit so i signed up. after signing up i didnt not hear anything for another 2 weeks and then they got in touch via email, telling me they were send me a cheque of 2500 pounds. i recived a cheque 1 weeks later and wennt to the bank and waited for it to clear. 3 days later it cleared (so i thought)so i withdrew it and forward it on through moneygram. 2 weeks later the bank got in touch with me and told me i was over drawn 2500 pounds and need to pay it back now. but its not like a 18 years old has that money, and i no i was stupied now but at the time it seemed like a good thing. i just dont no what to do

Sorry you got hit by this scam! They have been using it for quite awhile. I don't know what you can do about the bank but you really should make a police report. Most police have fraud divisions and they may be able to help you but as far as the money goes I think you have to pay the bank back! You were not stupid, many people get taken by this scam evreyday, just work with the authorities and bank and hopefully all will be well.

I'm sorry this happened to you. A thought to remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is (too good to be true). If anything has to do with you sending money to anyone, even if (especially if they want you to exchange currency) then it usually is a scam. I hope you can get this worked out, I know it's a hard lesson to learn, but I hope it will help you in future adventures. Good luck, and be careful scams are everywhere.

Sorry to hear you got taken by this scam. Make sure you report it to all the authorities. Unfortunately you will most likely never get your money back. Tell everyone you know what happened so it doesn't happen to them.

Hi Y01larkin, this is really kind of weird because I was just talking to someone else about this exact Scam. I am so sorry they got you, many people, who would see this would know right away, it was a scam, because of what they ask of you. Though I do not know what exactly you can do about it. These people are very hard to track and you are not the only one who has fallen victim to such internet scams. The only thing I could tell you is one, talk to the local police department, tell them that you have been scammed online, give them all the info you can give. Only other thing is ask them, what options you have about paying the bank off. See if they tell you to wait and see if this things figured out. My uncle was victim of Identity theft and that is what they had asked him to do. If not see if you can work it out with the bank that yopu pay it back in installments. Or what ever there really isn't too much else you could do.

you need to report that site to the authorities and tell them what they did and what you did you might still have to pay back the money but you might not but the authorities need to know and you need to sue that site
