Sorry I haven't been around, but it has finally happened...after waiting for what seemed like forever I finally have a new car! YIPPEE!!! No more sharing my husband's work truck! No more having to wait until he gets home so I can use it! No more hauling the kids around one at a time (unless I want to:P)! Okay, so my new car isn't 'brand new' as it is 7 years old, but it basically looks new and it runs great! So what kind is it? It's a Ford Taurus. I have had one in the past (a '94) and I really liked it, so you can just imagine how thrilled I am to have another! Well, I'll probably be on here less than before. But I wanted to pop in and let my fellow mylotters know my good news!:)

It sure is! I shared my husband's truck and before that a car, so it's been quite some time since I've had my own vehicle. I had almost forgotten how nice it is to have such a freedom as this. I love it! :)

Congratulations!I know how difficult it is when you have to get somewhere with kids and you don't have a car! I still haven't got my car and have to depend on my husband to get around. Before my younger one was born, I would walk everywhere I could or use public transport.

Thanks. :) If I lived closer to stores and other places I would been willing to walk, but I live in the sticks. Unfortunately public transportation doesn't run near my house, it's a few miles away. There aren't even sidewalks around here for my kids and I to walk on safely to get to the bus stop, if I dared to do it. So the only thing I could do is share my husband's truck...until now. I have a new found freedom that I haven't had in quite a while and I'm loving it! :)

Congratulations, sacmom, I would love to have new car instead of sharing. The freedom to go whenever is a advantage I have not had in a while..

Sorry to hear that carmelanirel. I had to share a vehicle with my husband for a few years and I know how much it can suck. I just hope my husband's truck holds up so that we don't have to share yet another vehicle. I think I'd have to go scream somewhere if that were to happen again. :P

Hey, that is good news, and Taurus is a great car. One of my brothers in law once said that it had quite a reputation as a work horse. I hope you and your family get wonderful use out of it.

Thank you Gerty! I hope my car lasts a long long time! I've only had it for 2 1/2 weeks and I've already gotten a lot of use out of it just around town. I'm having a blast with it! :)

What is that? - Does that look like a Taurus?
Congratulations! That is pretty exciting. Anytime we get an upgrade, no matter the year, it's an improvement. Have fun and drive safely. No mooning people, LOL.

Thanks maddysmommy! It's so nice to be able to go wherever I want. Funny though, I still drive around town just like I did before I got my car! LOL My family and I still have yet to go on a trip (out of town).

ha ha ha... I am happy for you as well. A Ford Taurus eh? That is a good car. I have seen it on the roads on TV many times when watching US movies and series. It is a big sedan and is very spacious. How is the fuel consumption like? I am also aiming for a car of my own. That is my next goal now that the current one is achieved. One day... one day I will be posting a happy post like this one when I get my hands on my own car! *grinz*

Thanks ahgong. I'm probably getting about 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, at least this is what it states on a web site I found. I never actually checked into it myself, but my husband noticed it gets better gas mileage on the highway than his little 4 cylinder truck does. Good luck to you in getting a car of your own! :)

I am use to kilometers and liters... let me see... 17 mpg 26 mpg 1 mile = 1.6 km 1 gallon = 4.4 liters that will work out to 6.2 km/liter for city and 9.5 km/liter for highway. Ok... Looks pretty decent. Those are from the manual rite? Have you ever try calculating?

good for you.. i loved my ford taurus..it was a good car..but years ago the first models rusted out and I sold it for $600..but the people who bought it drove it for years and it always started and ran good..but it rusted badly the newer ford taurus don't rust like the first ones..but i always like the insides of the ford taurus and the seats were very comfortable to me.. but now i drive a 2004 Ford Ranger and a 2003 Ford Explorer and so far no rust problems..and i only put on about 25,000 miles on each of them as it is only my wife and I drive them..she picked out the Ranger truck as she like the drive..but we both love our exporer too...yes, it is nice to drive a vehicle that is new to us..and starts everyttime we get into it! that is the main thing...have fun driving your new car...k

Oh I am! :) I always liked the look of the 2nd and 4th body style of the Ford Taurus. Especially the 4th (2000 and up) as I find it sleek and sporty looking. Plus it is fun to drive! :) Oh if I didn't have my car I'd be so jealous of your explorer. I like those a lot too!

Thanks Grandpa Bob! They do like it. Though my oldest was so used to just the two of us driving around for the last couple of years that the new car threw off his routine. Poor kid cried for a good hour or so the first time I wanted to take both him AND his little brother on a drive. I even offered to take him to his favorite store, which didn't help at first, but in the end that is where all three of us went. Now my oldest isn't trying to argue the fact when I say "all of us" are going in the car. Well at least not so much anymore. :)

Wow! Congratulations. That is a very good news. I am happy for you. Please drive well and follow the traffic rules. I am also dreaming of getting a new car. But here in the Philippines it is very difficult for an ordinary employee to get a car even if it is a second hand. It is very expensive. I wish to earn much here on the internet so that I can have a savings and buy a car. Even 200 dollar a month on the net for more than a year can help me have a car.

Thank you Mary. I do my best to follow the rules of the road and to drive carefully. Cars are pretty pricey here in the US as well, even ones that are several years old. But if you are able to save even just a little bit every month it will add up and before you know it you'll have your car. Good luck in earning some extra money on the net! :)

Yay for having your own car! It may not be brand new but it's new to you and as long as you like it that's all that matters. I've never had a ford taurus, but I'm not a fan of escorts thats for sure. I'm pretty picky about cars! But yeah, That's awesome. Enjoy ridin' around!

Thanks raychill! I'm also picky about cars. There are some that I did not even consider when I was looking for a car as I just don't like them. And then there were some that were too fancy and ritzy for my style (even the older models). I think this car suits my family and I. I'm really happy with it so far. :)

that is wonderful sacmom. i'm happy for you. i also want to have a new car even if i'm not driving yet but soon i will since i already got my permit to practice. i plan to get one in the future so i don't have to share my husbands car also and it would be great even if it's not really brand new as long as it has good mileage and still in good running condition. God Bless!
