Writers' Strike

United States

The screen writers in Hollywood have gone on strike. The last one was pretty long. Do you think this one will be settled soon, or take some time? What impact will it have on your viewing?

I'm hoping it gets settled soon. The writers help give birth to the media: sitcoms, movies, etc. Others help make that baby grow up. Writers deserve a fair share from their creation.

I agree with that thought, the writers are so important they should be properly treated

I suppose it's anybody's guess how long it will last. I did notice Jay Leno has had repeats all this week. I would be sad if Dr. Phil had to go off the air for awhile. Heard last week that is a possibility. I enjoy his daily show.

The fact that shows like Leno went immediately into reruns seems ominous

Well I heard lots of shows will have to get canceled. So I think many shows will be shut down for a while. Also I think that they should go on strike. If it was not for the writers.. those producers and actors would not have any job either.

I only watch a few shows on a regular basis, and I would hate to see them gone, for a long time. I know the guys behind the scenes do not get as big bucks as the guys in front, but I doubt they are going hungry.

I think this is going to take awhile to be settled. Many television shows will have to air re-runs or not air at all. Some shows will return sooner than expected. I will be able to catch up on my television shows, as I taped many programs already. Some of the shows I purchased that are still unopened on my shelf, so I have plenty to view and will have no impact on the number of hours I see television.

It sounds like you are a busy fishmomma. Maybe the break will be good for your viewing habits!

I don't really watch alot TV now so it really doesn't make a difference except for maybe a couple shows. I hope it gets settled as I don't want to see shows like Family Guy get cancelled. I was not too happy when Fox did it the 1st time around. There are certain shows I watch like Simpsons, Family Guy, and sometimes reruns of DBZ but that's about it.

You never know. Some may settle sooner than others. It is so true that with out the writers we would not have this kind of entertainment. I hope for both sides sakes it settles fast.

I hear that both sides have stacked up lots of money for a long fight! Yuck!
