Does it really seem like someone can solve crimes by using only mathematics? Im interested to know what many of you geniuses think? Is it possible, what charlie does in the series or are they just making up stuff that sounds cool?

I don't think math is enough though is something really important to make it. However, there are other stuff need to solve a crime scene such a science you know to identify dna, trace, etc.

Yes I would agree with you, I think that something like CSI is more believable than Numb3rs. I think that the program is still interesting even though it is unlikely anything similar could ever happen

I think it is feasible. However I must say that in real life, there are loads of considerations or factors rather than just relying on Math.

As with all tv shows not all of it is true but yes maths is used to solve crimes. True is not only thing that is used to solve crimes but that is the same in numbers (they just tend to focus more on the maths and don't show what else is going on).

There are pieces of information needed to solve the crime. The use of math helps them solve the case quicker. People get a chance to see how useful math is in the real world.

I don't think you can solve crime only using mathematics, but the show doesn't make that claim either. Many people are involved, but the crimes coincidentally can be 'solved' at some point like a math problem. This allows math to be conveniently displayed. Displaying math at work, however, is very interesting.

You bet, Charlie is a great example of what our teachers told us in high school. Algebra is important, you will use it every day. Even Green on Law and order used math. I believe he once said "bud that just don't add up". On the other hand, I think your right. They are just making up stuff that sounds cool.
