Reasons for exercising

I am new on here and was curious to know what is everyone's motivation behind exercising? Personally I do it because I want to gain weight, and stay healthy at the same time. I believe if you treat your body right and make it a lifelong habit, you will have fewer problems when you get old. I am also somewhat addicted to that good feeling you get after you leave the gym. It would be interesting to get everyone else's take on this.

I love staying in shape. It makes me feel good, and I have lots of energy. I feel if I keep moving maybe I won't need a cane or walker till I'm at leat 90 years old. When you stop moving is when you slow down and the aches and pains set in. And thats just not me. I work in a retirement community ( not a nursing home) and see it everyday. They come to meals and go back to their rooms, take a nap and then watch tv, then it's supper time and they repeat the whole thing over again.

I like and agree with everything you said here. that part about the elderly makes me sad. One of my fears of old age is ending up living like that.

I exercise to lose weight, lower my cholesterol and basically stay healthy.

My reason is different. I want to stay healthy hes. But I want to lose more weight. Not gain. LOl gaining weight(for me at least) is the easy part. You are right about treating your body well now. Good habits are harder to make than bad ones. I try to exercise in the middle of the day or beginning. If I do it too late, I can't sleep.
