What Is Your Favourite Gemstone And Why?

Amethyst Gemstone - The most beautiful of gemstones, the rich, purple Amethyst.

Although I was born under the Libra sign and my gemstone is the Opal, I much prefer the beautiful, rich, purple colour of the Amethyst. This is, in fact the birthstone of Aquarius, but still, I hold it as my favourite. It's not only the colour that attracts me but the qualities of this gemstone. It stimulates all the energy centres in one's body, mind and spirit, and its power can be channelled by carrying a small stone in one's pocket. Holding the crystal during meditation enhances mental clarity and improves intuition and open-mindedness. Amethyst has magickal qualities, which have been recognised for centuries. It's mentioned in the Bible, in the Book of Exodus, as being one of the twelve sacred stones adorning the High Priest, Aaron's breastplate, and to date, is also mounted in the Fisherman's Ring worn by the Pope. The gemstone promotes spiritual development and aids divine connections and mental clarity, encourages bravery and wisdom, and also, helps the bearer in astral travel. Held loosely during meditation it will improve divine connections. It is a good general-purpose healing stone, especially useful when you aren't sure of the cause of the problem. It's healing properties can be enhanced by rubbing it with lavender oil, and gently rubbing your forehead with the crystal, to banish headaches, starting with small circular movements in the centre of the temple and gradually working outwards. When placed upon the bedside table or beneath a pillow, Amethyst's soothing qualities will ease worries and aid sleep. I also have great faith in the Petersite stone which was gifted to me, but Amethyst is my clear favourite. The colour is beautiful and its qualities very calming. I have an Amethyst Dowsing Pendulum, and to date, it has given me very close connections with the spirits and guided me well in decisions. I keep it in a small pouch and carry it with me wherever I go. I am also going to set an Amethyst in my new Hazel wand, which will soon be in the making. Those of you who share my basic beliefs will know the reason why, I'm sure, and the Hazel is also my birth tree. :) What I'd like to know is, do you have a favourite gemstone? Is it your birthstone, or do you prefer another... and why? I'm looking forward to hearing your preferences as they will tell me a lot about your character. :)

Hi,Darkwing...I'm Scorpio with Libra ascendant and my birthstone is topaz but I never cared for it..LOL. My passion and love is turquoise from as far back as I can remember. The beauty of turquoise is that there is no one specific color of it, it can be the palest of blues, to a cerelean blue, to even green..but the deeper the blue the better I love it. Being that I'm part Native American, I have a lot of silver and turquoise jewelry, from rings, necklaces, including a squash blossom necklace that is characteristic of the Navajo people (no I'm not Navajo though) and bracelets with turquoise. As you know turquoise is also a healing stone, but is also known as a spiritual stone

Hello Pye! I must say, I was quite surprised you don't particular care for Topaz, especially the golden yellow one, for at least its Sun qualities, but there you go... we all differ. :) Your love of Turquoise however, doesn't surprise me, as it's linked with the qualities of the Sky and the Element of Air. A protective stone, it is especially useful in travel, on both the material and astral plane, which could explain why the burial mask of Tutankhamen was inlaid with several of these stones... possibly to protect him, in his journey to the Otherworld. I'm sure you are also quite aware of the mystical and magickal qualities of Turquoise, as it has long been used in rituals, and the making of magickal amulets. I'm not altogether sure of the Native American beliefs, when it comes to gemstones, but your response has prompted me to look into it!!! I certainly hope my online school will come up with a gemstone course next... I will have to put in a suggestion! :) I know something about them from reading but I'm sure there's a lot I can still learn! Brightest Blessings, my friend. x

Hi again Pye!!! :) I just had to pop back and tell you what I found regarding the North American Natives and Turquoise. It seems that they believe(d) that the sky-blue gemstone opens up a direct connection between the Sky and the Sea, and they still produce a good deal of traditional silver jewellery with turquoises today. So there you go, my friend. We live and learn. Thank you for prompting me! :)

It's funny that I should love a gemstone that is connected with the element of air as I seem to be more connected and drawn to the element of fire--but maybe I have a connection with turquoise and air element as the air element or at least the direction of East is associated with the communicative or artistic skills???

Obsidian Snowflake is my favorite gem stone. I like the contact of the jet black and the intriguing white patterns on it. Another gem stone that I really like is Fluorite and because it comes in colors I really like, green and purple. I like Quartz because it comes in so many different colors. I like Lapis lazuli because it is such a gorgeous shade of blue and that is one of my favorite colors. I have a jar of gem stones like these and I have some things made from Quartz and a sphere made from Fluorite. I have pieces of Rose Quartz in my garden. I love globes and have one made from crystal. I was born in July so my birth stone is a moon stone, it is quite pretty and so is the much more expensive Ruby. I have some jewelry with blue topaz on it and I like its pretty blue color.

My friend, you are so lucky, in that you live so close to Glastonbury. I love the powers of that place, and I know I belong there... I will be going back this year sometime, to the Chalice Gardens and the Tor, so I will look out for the gemstone shop. I haven't really explored the quaint little town, because my draw and interests were elsewhere. I've been to Somerset many a time, but only recently did I visit Glastonbury, for the first time. I think it was two years ago, but I certainly fell a power and a pull there like nothing else on this Earth, and I know I have to go back. I think maybe, there is a connection with a previous life there... something I might tell you about another time, with a little robin, and also the power I felt rise into me, via my arm, from the bench seat. Whenever I have these experiences, I feel as though I'm on a different plane. I don't know whether you understand that, but all around me is suddenly unreal, outside my own little bubble. Ok... I digress. I like Wells, also, and I went to Weston for a fish'n'chip lunch, then walked almost to the end of the pier to watch the tide come in. It comes in so fast. It was a beautiful day, and I was holidaying in Minehead, but my Dad always loved Weston, so I decided it was time I made a trip there. Wow... I could talk to you for hours on your part of the country! :) Thank you for your comments... I am really enjoying this discussion myself. There are so many wonderful responses in here, but I think yours might hold as my chosen one. :) We'll wait a while and see what happens. Brightest Blessings my friend, and remember me to Glastonbury next time you're there. x

Oh wow!!! You certainly like your gemstones, my friend. What a wonderful response, containing so much knowledge of the stones. Thank you very much for that. Obsidian Snowflake does have a lovely feathery pattern on it, doesn't it? That's where it got its name, I believe, from the feathery, snowflake type pattern in the stone. An amazing feat of Nature, methinks. You probably already know this, but for the benefit of anybody else who would be interested, Obsidian Snowflake is a stone of balance and inner harmony, teaching us that light can be found within any darkness. Known as the "Stone of Purity", this stone gently grounds and balances, helping to lift depression, release negativity, and banish negative emotions. Moonstone is available in different colours, namely white, grey and a peachy pink. A stone of Goddess energy, it has a soothing, calming energy, and can be used for all lunar workings bringing balance and harmony to the bearer. It helps with balancing, connecting with feelings, emotional tension, PMS, menopause, insomnia, and dreaming. I won't bore you with the meanings of every stone you've mentioned, for there are so many. I think you basically like them for their colours and pleasure to the eye, from what you say. I particularly like the idea of the Rose Quartz in your garden. It's a very soothing stone, Known as the "Stone of Gentle Love", it promotes peace, nurturing, and balances emotions. Where better, than to sit beside these stones when in need of solitude and balancing? :) Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Thanks for your lovely description of the powers of these beautiful gem stones. I sometimes carry one around in my hand bag to promote one or more kinds of feeling. It is so lovely and relaxing to sit in my garden next to the Rose Quartz. Yes, I certainly do love my gem stone collection. I like to go to Glastonbury sometimes. It is an interesting place with many gem stone shops but bargains can be had elsewhere. You would probably like one of the shops that has a front made from cement with gem stones put inside it. This is a wonderful discussion my friend.

I love Amethyst too! In fact, I got a lovely pair of drop amethyst earrings for Christmas. The color is beautiful and it is also one of LSU's colors (purple)...haha. I also got a pair of citrine earrings (gold), the other LSU color for Christmas. I didn't realize I had picked out LSU colors until after Christmas and we were gearing up for the BCS championship game. The citrine is also a pretty gold color. Another favorite of mine is sapphire. I love the deep blue color. It's so relaxing. It's hard to pick just one as a favorite. I love gemstones and jewelry in general :)

How lovely your gifted earrings sound. Are they set in silver? Regarding the LSU colours, it's strange how we're guided to pick colours, and the meanings of them. Take your Citrine, for example, which funnily enough, I am also partial to. This stone is used for wealth, happiness, success, and aids in manifesting on the physical plane what one visualizes or desires. Helpful in dissipating harmful energies, it aids in bringing self esteem, joy, and clear thinking to the bearer or wearer. Known as the "Merchant's Stone", it brings more cash to the wallet, or cash drawer when placed or carried inside. Now some of that is characteristic of the Amethyst as well, but with the added cash-drawing energies. Sounds good to me! ha ha ha. It is a pretty gold colour, as you say, and has glittery, more champagne coloured lines in some pieces. A very good choice of gemstone, which blends in with the Amethyst in colour tones. Brightest Blessings.

london blue topaz and diamond ring - London blue topaz and diamond ring, my birthstone
My favorite stone is actually my birthstone, or one of them. There are three for my birth month, which is December. They are blue zircon, blue topaz, and mostly recently added, tanzanite. My favorite is blue topaz and I love London Blue most of all. I have several of them and just love them. I think it's the color more than anything.

We all have a particular stone, or number of stones that we can relate to, Dutchess. I'll tell you a short story.. I was sitting in the pub one day and this young girl came in, and was talking to me. She knew me and my beliefs, and approached me with a bag of gemstones. There were ten to twelve of them in the bag, and she asked me to hold each one in my hand and see which I related to most. Now, I had never heard of this stone, but the one which I could feel putting energy into my hand, was a Pietersite. She gifted me with this stone, and wrote out the meanings on a piece of paper, which I read when I got home. I placed the stone close to my computer and read the meanings, looking at the stone for the qualities. I then picked up the stone, and to my amazement, it appeared to have a boy's face on it! That stone is in a pouch and goes everywhere with me. I sleep with it under my pillar and it gives me so much comfort. :) Therefore, I don't think we necessarily relate to our birthstones, but in your case, you do. I think the blue Topaz represents December quite well, especially the lighter blue, as it's icy looking. But the colour you choose is much richer... London Blue is very popular in jewellery. Topaz is said to relieve depression, anger, fear, greed and other negative emotions, and also claimed to give relief from nightmares, restlessness and sleep walking and regulate the stomach and other digestive and internal organs. Wearing the stone is said to bring friendship, better and deeper relationships, and enhance ones ability to give and revive love. I expect you knew all that though, huh? Thank you for your comments and Brightest Blessings.

I, like you think that the amethyst is the most beautiful gemstone and it is nice to learn a bit about it! ~When David and I got engaged over 10 years ago we got a beautiful antique diamond and amethyst ring, even although I am a virgo and sapphire is my birthstone - it makes it even more special that the amethyst is Davids birthston! The deeper the purple is the better and you tend to find this most in older stones, Now the bad bit - my ring was lost about a year after I gort it and I haven't been able to find another nice amethyst one to replace it that we could afford so far, therefore \i wear a small plain diamond one! xxx

Yes, I agree, the deeper the purple, the better the gemstone is. There's something very calming and soothing about the Amethyst, which I can't explain. Now, after reading your sad story, and in a desire to help a very good friend, I popped into E-Bay, and there are some very reasonably priced Amethyst rings in there, mainly set in silver which is a Moon colour, but I noted the URL of the page for you, in case you'd like to check them out. I'm sure you'll find something you like. :) I don't get paid for this, by the way! ha ha ha, I'm just helping out a friend, as far as I possibly can. Take a look! You never know... you might even find one you like and can afford, my friend... http://popular.ebay.com/ns/Jewelry-Watches/Amethyst+Ring.html Let me know what you think about them! I'm rather taken with the marcasite one.... there's something about the shape of it that attracts me! Hmmm, might even indulge myself! :) Brightest Blessings my dear friend. xxxx

You're so very welcome, my friend. I was sad that you'd lost it, and wanted to help, and where else would you find one at a reasonable price, than trusty old E-Bay. I sometimes look for "Buy Now" items so that they can't go any higher, but if you have to bid, you have to, I guess. There was more than one of the marcasite ones, so you might be lucky. I'm not sure about the heart one though, but if at first you don't succeed, try try again. Sometimes they get relisted, so it's worth looking in every once in a while. Brightest Blessings, and good luck with the ring! xxx

How wonderful are you as a friend? Thank you so much sweetheart and you are right there are some lovely rings there! I do like the marcasite one - I may treat myself it it doesn't get too expensive - I really like the heart shaped one as well! I cannot get over how thoughtful that was , for you to do that! love and hugs xxx

Hi Darkwing! Amethyst is my favorite gemstone and it is also my birthstone for I am an Aquarian. I have always loved it maybe because I love the color and it is because it is my birthstone. hehe..But now I love it even more because of all the information you have just shared about it here in your discussion. Thanks for that, now I know better! Take care and have a nice day! :)

Hi, my Aquarian friend, and welcome to the World of Amethyst lovers! lol. I love the colour purple... there's something very mystical and magickal about it. I think the Amethyst is a very calming stone too. Held in my hand, it helps me connect with my spiritual self too and clarifies my thinking. Difficult to explain, but I relate very closely to the gemstone. You're welcome to the information, of course and I thank you for your input, with Brightest Blessings.

I think my favorite is a garnet, and that is because it is my husband's birthstone, and because of what he had to say about it when we met. He said that it stood for fidelity. The first piece of jewelry he bought for me had a heart shaped garnet and a round blue turquoise, as blue as his eyes. Set in silver, which he prefers. My hands are so large, the ring broke, but I have it anyway. The stones were very small, but that is okay. I love the meaning he put to it, and he had reason to value fidelity. My frst husband's birthstone was amethyst, and mine is peridot, or sardonyx, the books say. I like the peridot, but I had another August friend who says it is ugly.

Yes, the Garnet is a very attractive, high vitality and energising stone. I can add to what your husband told you, in that given as a gift, the Garnet symbolises true and never-ending love and devotion. So, there you go... fidelity is a good word, but it's so much more romantic than that!!! lol. This stone also lends vitality and strength, and increasing sensuality, invokes and releases ones creative ability and inner fire, helping with sexuality. In fact, the Garnet is aptly named, "The Stone of Commitment". A thought here... could you not take the ring to a silversmith and have it repaired and perhaps made a little larger? It's worth a try. As for the Peridot being "ugly"... that's not what matters. What matters is whether you can connect with it, and accept the energies it gives you. The Peridot brings a happy, friendly energy, and aids in forming friendships and friendly bonds. It lessens anger and jealousy, bringing inner peace. As a healing stone, it strengthens and regenerates the body. So how do you now see your friend's remarks? lol. Brightest Blessings.

My friend, you don't surprise me with either of those because both are so indicative of You. Amethyst, as I said, promotes spiritual development and aids divine connections and mental clarity, encourages bravery and wisdom, and also, helps the bearer in astral travel. I'm sure you understand why I link that with you, and Turquoise is a stone revered by North American Indians for centuries, for its links with the qualities of the Sky and the Element of Air. A protective stone, it is especially useful in travel, on both the material and astral plane. Some North American Natives called this stone, "Pieces of the Sky." Again, you have connections with this stone and its qualities, and the Natives used to make and wear totem jewellery made with Turquoise. Brightest Blessings. xxx

My favorite is amethyst too :) I've always been drawn to that stone though my birth stone is sapphire (second favorite). The biggest reason is that it's my favorite color. I LOVE purple. I found it fascinating as I got older and found out the meanings and associations with colors and stones because it was like there was a deeper reasoning behind it that I wasn't aware of before :)

I'm so very glad I started this discussion, because I'm finding it a way of getting to know people whom I've never really known before. Some have similar likings to me, in liking the amethyst, and some have the same sort of beliefs as me. You are similar to me in that you like the amethyst not only for its qualities, but for its colour. Purple is my favourite colour too, and I love to mix it with black. Both those colours have similar qualities and those qualities are quite true to my personality. So, all in all, the people who respond to this discussion, are revealing their personalities to me, and I am finding some really nice friends, with similar ways of thinking. Thank you so much for your contribution, and Brightest Blessings.

I like the Ruby. The deep red ones are the best. I have seen some of the pink rubies and they have no fire. My hubby has learned that if he wants to really get my attention, buy me a ruby. Most of all the stones he has gotten me are small but I love them anyways. Each one has a lot of fire and are special to me because he picked them out with me in his mind.
@Darkwing (21583)
24 Jan 08
Are you a fire sign, Royal? I would be interested to know. :) Yes, I prefer the deep red rubies to the brighter ones, and of course, the Ruby has some good characteristics. It brings courage, strength, and personal power to, and shields and protects the wearer. It brings clarity of mind and true action from the heart. Does that ring any bells? Your hubby knows how to get round you, for sure. lol. But, I think, like you, I would tend to allow that and indeed, treasure these stones, because as you say, his thoughts, when buying them, are of you, and that would suggest to me, how much he loves you. Brightest Blessings.

I doubt I can suggest anything better than a clear crystal for the diamond, but again, you may be quite surprised to look on E-Bay. I found a page of emerald gemstones, from rough emerald and gold stones, to beautiful jewellery and all at a very reasonable price. There is even a heart-shaped gemstone on a black thong, which is very attractive. You might like to take a look at this page, my friend... http://search.ebay.co.uk/emerald-gemstones_W0QQcrlpZ1084013942Q5f10136QQfcclZ1QQfclZ4QQfnuZ1QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ32QQkeywordZemeraldQ20gemstonesQQrprZ78 It is a UK page, so make any adjustments you wish, but I thought you might find it interesting in that the gemstones are available at reasonable prices. Be sure, if you purchase one though, to make it your own, on receipt. That is all important. Brightest Blessings.

My favorite gemstone is the smokey Topaz set in silver or white gold. I used to have such a ring but my ex pawned it somewhere when he left, and I never could find the shop he pawned it at. It was my favorite ring. There is something eerily beautiful about the color and the depth of this stone. Shalom~Adoniah

I agree, the Smokey Topaz, set in silver is very beautiful. What a pity you could never retrieve your ring. Perhaps you could find a replacement some place? They seem to be quite abundant but then, a replacement might not hold the same sentimental value for you, or the same energies. Topaz is reputed to be the Promoter of Truth and Forgiveness, and is also said to have healing and energising properties. Topaz lore also suggests that it fortifies the nerves, improves digestion and stimulates metabolism. So, I can imagine what you see in it. Brightest Blessings my friend, in the hope that someday, you can replace your lost gem.

I am also a Libra and love the Opal. Have you see the Black Opal? They are beautiful as well. When they both (white and black opals) have a lot of fire to them you could look at them all day long!
@Darkwing (21583)
24 Jan 08
Welcome, fellow Libran! :) Yes, the Opal is a good stone, but it's just that I feel more at home with Amethyst... that's not to say I can't appreciate the qualities of Opal. The white Opal gives off a rainbow of different colours, in flashes, which is quite fascinating and a black Opal orb is an excellent scrying tool. It too, will flash colours of red, pink and bright green, which are quite amazing. Yes, they're both beautiful. I like the black Opal orb in the eagle's claws, as a pendant.. very special. As far as lore goes, Opal has symbolised hope, innocence and purity throughout the ages. Lol... I don't know about the innocence and purity but I always look forward with high hopes! How about you? :) Brightest Blessings.

I am a Gemini and my birthstone is Alexandrite in the way of the traditional birthstone. Some people may not be aware that there are several different types of birthstones that in turn change the given stone. I love the Alexandrite because of all the colors it encompasses. My modern birthstones are Pearl and Moonstone. My 15th - 20th Century birthstones are Agate, Cat's Eye and Turquoise. A gemstone that I find incredibly beautiful and drawing is the Emerald. Green can be a very ugly color, but every Emerald that I have seen has only consisted of the most beautiful variations of green. My birth tree is the Ash for Ambition.
@Darkwing (21583)
24 Jan 08
Yes, Alexandrite is the colour-changing variety of the Chrysoberyl I believe, its colours varying from red to green, depending on light source. For instance, if the gem is in natural light, or under a fluorescent, then it will appear green, but under an ordinary light bulb, it will appear red. I've never seen one of these in real life, as it's quite a rare stone, I believe, but it sounds quite intriguing. I'd love to see one. You sound as though you've researched all this, but for the benefit of those who haven't Alexandrite can assist in centering the self, reinforcing self-esteem, and augmenting the ability to experience joy. The Ash is also considered as the "Father of Trees", the tree of sea power, and is sacred to Poseidon and Woden. Lore also says that special guardian spirits reside in the Ash, making it excellent for absorbing sickness. Its magickal aspects are sea power, karmic laws, magickal potency, healing and protection from drowning. Thank you for your input and Brightest Blessings.

I'm sorry to keep harping on this, but you can do a lot worse than to look on E-Bay. I just did and found that some of the Alexandrite jewellery is very favourably priced. There are some which are priced way out of anybody's range of course, mainly larger stones, but they really do go very low in price. Perhaps people don't realise their value. Here is the URL if you are interested in taking a look. I ought to work for E-Bay, didn't I? lol. Some people don't much like it, but I've had years of dealings with them and never a problem. http://search.ebay.co.uk/alexandrite_W0QQcrlpZ427297262Q5f10136QQfcclZ1QQfclZ4QQfnuZ1QQfrtsZ0QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ32QQkeywordZalexandriteQQrprZ78 I hope you see something you like.

A good enough reason, my friend, which is why I like amethyst, also. I don't know what your birth sign is but we are able to choose other than that which is our delegated birthstone. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution. x

Raw Peridot Rock - An earthy, raw Peridot Rock, so much different in colour to the polished gemstone.
That's very interesting in what you say about the Peridot my friend, because the colours, in its raw state, can be quite relevant to your avatar, in that they blend very well into the earthy/watery colours.:)I've added a pic of a raw Peridot Rock, to this response. This gemstone brings happy and friendly energies to the bearer, and aids in forming friendships and friendly bonds. Lessening anger and jealousy, it brings inner peace, and strengthens and regenerates the body when used as a healing stone. Of course, the polished stones are a much brighter, as you say "funky" green, which I think is more the reason why you're attracted to it. Brightest Blessings.

I like Citrine the best, it's good for inspiring creativity apparently and I just like the feeling I get when holding it, I have a cluster of it and a point. I also like moonstone and have a big piece of that and a necklace with quite a big oval shaped piece. I have a lot of amethyst too I'm not sure why it's not a stone I consciously choose to like it just seems to come to me, and it use it to help me relax at night as I have insomnia.

I have about five small Citrine stones. They're very pretty, pale yellow with silvery white streaks in them. Since it holds no negativity, it never requires cleansing or clearing and in ancient times, it was carried for protection against the plague, skin problems, snake bites, and evil thoughts. Known as "The Merchant's Stone", Citrine is said to bring success and prosperity when placed in a cash register, or wallet. Moonstone has Goddess energy, soothing and calming. It is useful in all lunar workings and bringing balance and harmony. It helps also, to connect with feelings, and for emotional tension, PMS, menopause, insomnia, and dreaming. So, if you used this stone with your Amethyst, perhaps by placing both under your pillow, and perhaps the scent of lavender toboot, you would surely get some sleep at night, my friend. Brightest Blessings.

My birthstone is an emerald. I like it okay but it isn't my favorite. Diamond is my first favorite, but I also really like Sapphires (my husband created me a pretty yellow sapphire ring on deployment) and I have always loves Aquamarine. I just think it is really pretty. Sapphire is my oldest son's birthstone, Aquamarine is my next son's birthstone, both of my daughter's are Emeralds.

The Diamond is a Master Healer... it ispels negativity, purifies the physical bodies and reflects will and power aspects of God. It enhances full spectrum of energies in body, mind and spirit, aligns on with one's higher self and brings abundance, innocence purity and faithfulness, prosperity, innocence, faithfulness andwill power,enhances brain function and dispels negativity. The Sapphire aligns body, mind and spirit; stimulates psychic abilities, clarity and inspiration, creative expression, loyalty and love. It also aids connection with one's higher self and spirit guides, strengthens will, expands cosmic awareness and dispels confusion. The Sapphire is excellent for meditation. Aquamarine purifies the body, enhances clarity of mind and aids creative self-expression. It is a physical, emotional, mental balancer, helping to banish fears and phobias. Aquamarine is excellent for meditation, inspiration, peace, calmness, love, mental and emotional balance, clarity of mind and helps banish fear. It aids in communication, obtaining the truth and peace. So, the stones you choose all have quite similar energies, but the colours vary. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your input.

You know, I responded to your Application of Screennames post, but I didn't realize we also shared other interests, including our basic beliefs. I've kind of fallen out of it since I met and married my husband, but the Craft still carries a special place in my heart, and I would love to raise my son in that tradition. I'm not certain how to do so without offending my husband, however. (He was a bit different when we met than he is now.) Amethyst is also one of my favorite stones, both in color and uses. Another is the Chrysocolla. It's beautiful and also has many good properties and uses. Of course, I love rocks in general (I've had a collection since I was a child), but there are a few that I feel connected to.

You're Wiccan? Wow... it's a small World, my friend. Have you spoken to your husband about your beliefs? You know, most people outside our traditions think quite badly of us, until they know our real intentions, and our reasons for following the path we do. Sometimes they want to know, but are frightened of the answers they're going to get, especially if they've grown close to a person of the Craft. Somehow, we have all been branded with the "Wicked Witch" iron, and many still believe we are evil. That's because they don't delve into our real world, and they are ignorant of the goodness in us. I think he might appreciate your discussing it with him, anyway. I don't know how you feel about that. You have your stones to guide you... you know they will, and the spirits will help you too, if your beliefs are still there. As for raising your son in the tradition, I feel you ought to get the all-clear from your hubby first. I'm not sure about there, but here, we are being accepted a lot more of late. Maybe start with "special" meals on those "special" days, and explain to him why you're serving him those foods. His reaction might surprise you? :) Anyway... enough said in here... you've given me your e-mail address so perhaps we should discuss this more privately. Do you have Native American roots by any chance? I'm asking this because the Chrysocolla is regarded as a healing stone with the tribes. It does have good qualities, I must admit, and it's quite an attractive stone. The Amethyst is quite a favourite, and I find it quite easy to work with. It's good for me, and I adore the colour. Brightest Blessings my friend. I will be in touch soon. I'm going now, to send you my e-mail address, in case you feel a need to contact me. Then, it's time for my bed, so I'll see you soon. Thank you. Perhaps in the meantime, you might be interested in visiting one of my websites. I'd certainly like to read your views in my guestbook. The link is www.freewebs.com/mysticalmoonbeams. If you go there, enjoy! :)
