How do you deal with stress in your life?

I have had a lot of stress in my life lately. Seems to be more than I can handle. It is running my blood pressure up and causing so many other health problems for me. I know we cannot avoid stress but sometimes I just would like to make the world go away for about an hour and let me not be so stressed out. I am light headed and my pain level is at a 10. I just wondered how you deal with stress in your life? Do you have stess in your life? How do you handle it? Does it run your blood pressure up?

Myloting sometimes helps me with stress, getting lost on the computer in cyberspace also helps. When I get mad, I wash dishes, and sometimes slam a door. One time my top was getting ready to blow and I had to let of steam. I opened the door, slammed it. then did it again. I had wanted the glass to go tinkle, tinkle, it didn't thats why I did the second slam. Sometimes just slamming a door does help let of steam. I am usually very peaceful and easy going, but sometimes you just have to let loose when you feel like you are going to lose it. I tend to keep things in for peace and harmony. I do hope things get more peaceful for you. Life sure can be tough sometimes. Throw a good fit.

Hello villageanne. I love your name. I just had to use it! lol Everyone suffers stress and some people find it manifests physically and that can be very hard to deal with. I handle my stress by always looking for the humor in it and if I can't find it, then I prioritize the stress points. Some I can deal with and put behind me, others take more work. Some stresses will never go away and I accept that. (like my husband! lol). I try very hard not to sweat the small stuff so that the larger stresses have less to build on. And whenever I can I literally demand private time for myself to think things through and get my stressers under control. Some days I just lose it completely and throw unbreakables out the front door. That's a wonderful stress reliever and I always laugh at myself when I have to go outside, gather them up and put them away.

oh yes I have high blood pressure and I have more stress than I can handle which over the years manifested itself in physical ailments. I just try to remind myself to stay calm not too worry and use the mantra this too shall pass, or its a process it will take time to work itself out.

Stresses come in different forms. They are made to trouble us and let us feel uncomfortable. In my case, I fight them all with enough courage and will. I would talk to my sweetheart and seek help. I would go biking and do other sports activities, etc.

I don't deal with stress. The reason i say that is because I am constantly stressed. I stress about everything big and small. I don't know why, but I need to learn some way to lessen my stress.

I find that very often a sleep will take away some of the tension.Just a `cat nap` will often ease that awful feeling of being unable to cope.

Unfortunately we all have stress of some kind but some have it more than others and some times are more stressful than others. I have my fair share. When you are raising a child under the autism spectrum that can be stressful enough. Fortunately my son has a very mild form but its still hard. Among other things that I have to deal with on a daily basis. Well how did I USED to deal with stress, I ATE which solved nothing other than earned me some unwanted extra pounds. Now, I try to work out or read up on something that interests me. Or sometimes if I just cannot do either, I will just sit and stare! Anything that stops me from eating... and my blood pressure surprisingly has been okay but my sleep is another issue.

I have stress issues. I find it really hard to deal with it. Sometimes I could scream, hit something (or someone depending on why I'm stressed). I try to take a lot of hot baths when I'm stressed, because it controls my blood pressure. I get physically ill when I'm stressed. It's almost like having the flu so I just end up laying in bed till it goes away.

That is the same with me. I have so much stress in my life that I wish it would all go away also or the lord would take me home to get me out of it. I just keep trying to stay busy every day and my husband helps me alot to get through it. I am not sure what I would do if I didn't have him. It takes a toll on my health also and it makes me feed my nerves too. I have gained weight and I hate it but I just cannot find peace in my life at all.

Hello villageanne! Sad to say I also have a lot of stress in life, from work... family, myself etc etc, the bad thing is it also affect my health not with my blood pressure. But well anyway it comes and go so whenever I'm stress I make it sure I'll make it up with myself. Give myself much time to cope up for a good health. Accept that there are things I don't have control and that live life to the fullest even if it seems imposible. Positive thoughts is really a great help. I do meditation, yoga, fern c, and of course prayers.

i too have dealt with some amazing levels of stess in my life. it skyrocketed my bloodpressure, caused insomnia, my hair would fall out, my mouth would bleed, back spasms, you name it.. it was terrible. unfortunately we cant just make the world dissapear, even for a little while, but we CAN avoid the populice and hide for a bit to breath. meditation is a wondrous way to calm your mind, and your soul ( and the repeatative deep breathing required is also proven to lower bloodpressure as well ) yoga, other forms of exercise also releive stress quite well. if you can muster the energy to do them =o) try to take 15 minutes a day to dissapear and hide. a good hot shower before bedtime can offer the isolation needed, as well as just be comforting to yer entire aching body. breath ( innn with the goood, ouuut with the baaad ) cry if you feel like it, and release it. i now take my time to defrag the day away on a regular basis, and my blood pressure is routinely at 112/70 good luck to you and chin up =o)

I have suffered many stress in my life before, and some times it caused me not breathing, not good sleeping and eating, this situation kept about 1 month, some day I read an article which tought us how to handle with our stress,I suddenly realized I could not gone with it, I must change my current situation,I must handle my stress efficiently. So I change the view about the stress and turn it to my motivity, I begin to make plan for my work,my study and my economy and literally achieve them.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles with stress. I've been dealing with my own stress problems for over a year now. It caused other areas of health to deteriorate. I've learned and implemented a few things that have been super helpful. However, you may think a couple of suggestions are stupid...I know I did before I tried it. 1 - Practice deep breathing and incorporate that into your normal routine. It's been proven that deep breathers are better able to cope with stress related issues. Breath deep into your abdomen for a count of 4-5 seconds (put your hand on your chest to ensure you are not breathing shallow into the chest), hold the breath for the same count of 4-5 seconds and exhale for the same duration. Make sure you can hear yourself breathing and concentrate on the sound the air makes going in and out of your body. 2 - Guided positive imagery is also helpful when you find your stress levels elevating. Imagine yourself in a place that brings you great joy. Expand your thoughts. For example: If you are on a beach then listen for the sounds of the ocean, the birds, other people, etc. Note the scents that you smell such as salt water, hot dogs, suntan lotion, etc. Are you alone or with other people. Make the imagery as real as you can and enjoyable. When you feel that stress is over-taking you, then go to your positive image. 3 - Incorporate some good old fashion laughter and fun into your life. 4 - Get exercise regularly. Pilates and Yoga are great stress relieving exercise programs. I enjoy rollerblading as you can really push off the ground hard to release some of the built up stress. I hope you're able to find a way to alleviate some or better yet all of your stress. Good luck!

Is your stress causing the pain, or is it from the pain? I avoid caffeine in excess, try to get fresh air. Go to bed earlier, sleep in when I can. I pray, read the Bible, and uplifting material. I write down what I am stressed about, then throw it away. I do not think stress runs my blood pressure up, but it does contribute to me over eating, also not good. I ask for hugs. I change what I can that is producing the stress, and I mutter, over and over again, under my breath : "This too shall pass." I think it depends on where the stress is coming from.

I've actually been under a lot of pressure right now. I have a lot of college homework, I quit my job and am looking for a new one and all of this stress is giving me pimples. But when this happenes I just start watching a really funny movie or my Will and Grace DVD.

I am always stressed, I am just a stresshead, the slightest thing and Im off. Its definately not good for your health I know that much and I try not to get so worked up but I just cannot seem to help it. Anyway one way I have of calming myself down is putting music on and just having a dance, it makes me feel quite good, I get my little daughter to dance with me and we just do this for about 20 minutes a day. Plus its good exercise too!

develop a hobby (something you can do without the need to go out), sleep when you can, eat healthy food, and exercise 3 times a week. I used to think the same way as you, If only the world would stop for one second so I can breathe..^^ when I feel like bursting because of all the stress. I just stop and go jogging for a while. It's a great way to keep your body from being sluggish. I always think about the bigger picture. I know I have a lot of things to do so I try to prepare efficiently and finish everything I have to do.
