Do you take advantage of offers on cereal and other product boxes?

Special offers on boxes! - cereal boxes
United States

It seems like there is an offer for something on every box of food that we buy. There are the sweepstakes, $$$ off different products and special offers for everything they can come up with. Personally I'm just happy to have a coupon to cut off a box and much happier with that than the so called "special offers" that usually don't interest me any way. Do you take advantage of the $$$$ of a DVD, coloring book or whatever the special offers are on boxes? Wouldn't you be happier if they just put a coupon on the box instead?

I did one time a long time ago. I got a toucan bowl and spoon. But its to much of a hassle to do those offers. I'm like you i'd just be happy with a coupon for so much off.

It depends on what it is. I ordered Pirates of the Caribbean clocks from Kellogg's. They're cool. The clock projects on the wall when you press a button. It's a skull head with all the Pirate marking: eye patch, bandanna, beads hanging from it's head. I got two for $9.00. Good deal.

I do take advantage of the offers every once in a while. Just last month I orderd some kids books off a cherios box. It was $2 for 5 books and so I got 3 sets and now we have a set for each kid and one for my aunt.

I normally don't get too attracted to offers that need an extra effort like collecting, filling them out and sending, etc. Not unless it's really really really worth it. I'm more attracted to additional free prizes that you get when you buy a certain product. like "buy 2 boxes of cereal and get free glass" or something like that.

The stuff will be attracted if there is something special on it. In the first place, I wonder if the offers are what I really need. Collecting the bottle of the item or token on the box is worth nothing. A useful little item like bowl and spoon could be considered, personally.

Like you rather than have a toy or whatever I would rather have a voucher or coupon for money off the next time around.I dont really ever send away for these things from the cereal boxes. But theres one thing that i find the boxes themselves come in handy for,and thats my patchwork templates. We dont have the kids at home any longer so we dont buy too much cereal now. When they were home thety used to eat it for breakfast dinner and tea,and i used to buy box after box, plus they always liked the expensive kind.A box lasts me and hubby two or three weeks here now,so it would take forever to collect whatever they were offering anyway.

sometimes i take. but i have seen if i always tend to buy, then it is like i spend more. so i buy when i think i need that item soon.special offers are good but they sometimes make you spending more.

It depends on several things. First I rarely do any offer with a shipping and handling fee, as many times the item isn't worth the cost. Next I won't do an offer that means I have to spend a lot of money just to do the offer. Its important that it be a product that people in my house would eat or use in some way. I do like coupons right on the box, but won't buy it just because there is a coupon. The only problem with the coupon on a cereal box is many times it won't double and I usually have a coupon for the cereal that will double.

I used to, but somehow they do not excite me like they used to. I used to save the instant oatmeal pouches and redeem them for a kids cereal bowl and stuff like that. Or I would save the kool aide points. anymore I do not.

sure, why not, theres always the greed in our minds, so theres no way anyone would have the opposite effect of not buying an item because theres no offers, unless the cheap cereals are overdued~ =)

Allot of the time I will. But mostly if it is something I could use or something that someone else I know could use.

Very rarely do we. Although recently we did save up "tokens" for a free copy of Zoo Tycoon 2 which my 10 year old wanted. They actually shipped it pretty quick (and no shipping charge! yay) And currently we are saving "tokens" again for a Pedometer which my son wants. We prefer the "toy in box" type of thing. Or a coupon to save on your next box of the same type. I hate it when they put a coupon to push another type of cereal.

I really dont use too many coupons. I will if there is a coupon that is for something that I use a lot. Such as food products, hair supplies, cleaners and baby stuff. Not too much DVDs or coloring books or anything like that. Just mostly coupons for everyday items. I do wish that most of the coupons would either come off boxes or from a newspaper or something like that. I really dont like when things have a "special offer". Normally they are very stupid things that never interest very many people. Once in awhile they do have some really neat stuff, but the price they ask for it isnt something I want to pay. After all most of the items are kid movies or decoration items that I tend to find on boxes.

No, I never do. I always look at those offers, but they don't seem worth it to me. Neither are the box top things either. "Send in ___ box tops and get a free movie!" (Psh. The movies are usually box office flops anyway, and buy the time I get enough tops the offer will probably be replaced with a new one)I wonder if anyone really takes advantage of them.
