a new study shows that grapes skins can actually help prevent cellular damage to blood vessels caused by diabetes, I don't know about your but I am going out to get some grapes now! http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/03/080318094514.htm

Be careful as my mom was diabetic and when it went out of control the only fruit she was allowed to eat was papaya thats it. Its a very risky disease and it eats your insides like termites so eat only after consulting your doctor and do not go in for any diet after just reading about it.Good health to you.

I come of a family of diabetics and what you put in your mouth and regular excersise is the two most important things for this disease, I will say it comes at par with cancer in terms of risk. I have seen at least three of my family members succumb to heart attack the silent ones justs like that. So be very very careful.

it is a good idea to get a nutritionist to help you. I found I could eat most any fruit but in certain quantities I am a diabetic for forty some years and am doing very well with an A1C of 6. It is risky if you do not follow the medical advice of your diabetic team and also check your blood glucose level a lot every day.it will show you just exactly what you can and can not eat but given that you eat right and exercise its not as risky as a lot of things such as cancer. Your advice is really sound we must listen to our doctors and the rest of our diabetic team.

I am not diabetic, but I have relatives and clients that are. I am very interested in how to help the condition by managing food. I would say, from gut instinct, that I agree with what you are saying, but I have had people in other discussions say that they cannot eat any fruit, especially grapes and raisins, because of their diabetes. I want to eat as many whole and natural foods as I can. I believe that that makes me feel much better.

I am staff support for a young woman who requires insulin only occasionally. Most of the time we are in very good control of her sugars. She is MR, so that is very hard for her to get the idea of. She knows she does not like the shots, but she also knows that she likes french fries (this will make her need insulin) and white rice (sometimes makes her need insulin). We had to increase potassium rich foods because of another health issue and that really threw her off for awhile. She really loved the little tomatoes, and would eat so many she would require an injection. I gave her a count of seven for a snack and that took care of the problem.

hi I do not need insulin as I am on oral meds but I know that even athird of a cup of white rice shoots my blood glucose way up but I can eat the same amount of brown rice and not have a problem. we can eat fruit of course but in intelligent amounts so as to keep our bg level.

Better safe than sorry. My mother was advised against taking grapes. My people including myself remove the skin and just eat the fruit discarding the seeds. Perhaps it's the skin we should be eating instead :P btw, I also heard that the seeds of grapes benefits the human body too.

well can this be true for people who are not under any medication for diabetes. Is there any reliable data for this or is this just another gimmick and rumor to keep diabetics from become anxious ?????

I gave you the link to the medical data, and of course if you have diabetes it stands to reason that you don't stop taking your medication, nobody is saying that what we are saying is that eating grapes a dietary factor helps control it, you can choose the foods you eat, and foods effect health, there is enough studies about that.

My mother is borderine diabetic so I will have to pass this info on to her. I know she likes grapes and this will give her even more of a reason to eat them.

I eat lots of fruits, but ironically I don't like grapes, hmmm might have to readjust my taste buds after reading that, there are a lot of good things in vegetables and fruits which fight off cancer and other diseases so it's worth eating them for their nutritional and medicinal values. Looks like I'll have to start eating grapes from now on. Thanks for sharing!

I have heard about the various health benefits of grapes of all varieties. I have some grapes growing in my yard. This will be the second year I have had them. The first year we got 5 clusters only I think. It was small and hoping this year to get a lot more. I think I have Key Grey Grapes if I'm not mistaken. They are green types. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I love to eat grapes but I have not been diagnosed by a doctor as having diabetes but it does run in my family. I may have it though. I haven;t seen a doctor in years. I need to start watching my weight but all I do is feed my nerves. I constantly have a hunger pain.
