I do, and It is kind of expensive if you ask me. I was surprised when they said how much it cost, just another bill. well I had ask when I got my new Phone Service. They told me like $9.95 plus tax, then you have Voicemail, that is another $9.00 to $10.00 plus tax. all those features can be expensive, but I guess it does come in handy. Something else, to know if you press *67, you get your number to show up privately if you didn't want the other person to know you were calling. I use that sometimes, My Grand-daughter uses it all the time when calling me. Ok, If you didn't know this I am sharing it with you.

I dont have caller id on my phone. I was going to get it, but really dont' need an extra bill. I do use *69 many times to see who was trying to call me when I am on the other line. If it is a private number, I figure it is someone who I really didnt' want to talk to anyways.

I don't have caller I.D. on my phone. I am always online so my phone never gets the chance to ring really. I have lovely dialup. We work nights and sleep during the day so I turn off my phone and my answering machine so we can sleep. It would ring off of the hook if I didn't. I have a cell phone if they need to get a hold of me and it is important though.

I suppose it is good for that purpose. Why did you upload Dogs in this discussion, I think you should of been uploading a phone or something, I thought that is how it goes? Good to see you here! How are the Kids treating you?

I was talking on the phone while I was answering this discussion. I had the dog pictures open to send to my friend that I was talking to on the phone and somehow I was not paying attention to what I was doing and the picture ended up getting uploaded into this discussion. the kids are doing fine. We start back to school tomorrow after having been on spring break for 10 days.

I use to have caller id before my youngest daughter ran my phone bill up to over $800, and then when I couldn't pay it off, they took that away. I'm still trying to pay it off and this has been since August of last year. At least they didn't take my phone service away, but I did lose my DSL too. Yes I know about the *67 feature.

We have caller ID, it was included in our land-line phone plan. My phone also has different ring-tones that I can set for different people (well, like 10 or so) just like my cell phone did so I can set my husbands so I know it's him calling without even looking at the phone and ignore all other calls. (Of course, sometimes it's him I want to ignore- hahaha!) Voice mail was an extra charge, but only like $1 or so...and we don't need it anyway because the phone we bought has a built in answering machine. Would I have either of those if I had to pay the fees you listed? No, I don't think I would.

Yes If you are waiting for an important call and don't have Voice-mail or Answering Machine you won't know if the called or not, that is when a I.D. caller comes in handy, and mostly to screen calls.

On my cell phone, yes. Land-line phone, no. The land line phone is something I only have because my cable company (Cox) doesn't have a package with only Internet and TV, and it would actually be $10 more expensive to not have the phone then to have the phone. Rediculous eh? As for Caller ID, I never officially had it until 1998, because before then I lived in a city where, though it was available, I had a hard time getting it. I recall buying a caller ID box and signing up for it, then not getting the number when someone called, so I returned it and cancelled the service. I personally recall wishing it existed for us back in 1992 when someone was harassing my family over something that is a very long story. Then again, I'm glad it didn't, nor did we try tracing the line, because I recall being so enraged (because I just knew who it was but couldn't prove it) that if they had found out the phone number belonged to this person, I would've been in my car before you could blink, baseball bat in tow, to go do some permanent damage, and that would've had me landed in some serious trouble...so call it divine intervention.

Uh, yeah, I just got through saying I would've been in a world of trouble. The person who was doing the harassing's father was an auxiliary (volunteer) police officer to add to it, and I had some severe emotional problems at the time. Luckily I had an unshakable good consciousness.

I have a caller ID capable phone, but I don't have the service on my landline. It's a luxury that I'd love to have like on my cell phone, but I just can't afford it right now. One of these days, though, I'm going to get it. But, very few people call me, so I just screen my calls through the answering machine.

We do have Caller ID on our phone. It comes with our package deal so we do use it. Bruce uses it more than I do, though. He just won't answer if he does not know the caller. I use it for the phone numbers stored and the 'call back.'

that is very good, it also comes in handy when those Telemarketers bug you with calls. I look at it and don't even answer it.

On my home phone I do have caller ID, I like having it but I do not want the voice mail because if someone leaves a message then I still have to call them back, I prefer having an answering machine so if someone calls that I do not know while they are leaving a message I have the option of picking up the phone and talking to them, saving me the trouble to call them back and I don't have to pay the phone company money for their voicemail service. Does your phone company offer unlimited calling plans? Mine does, it costs $32.00 a month for unlimited calling anywhere in the US and it includes caller ID, three way calling and call forwarding. Voice mail costs extra.

Yea, I have. You are talking about house phone? Yes. And mobile phone? Yes. Most mobile phones will need caller id lol. They used to offer it free but now they want to charge 5 bucks every month. Money grubbers!! I am fortunate that I am on some super loyalty discount so I get 50% off this old, old, old plan that is supposedly worth twice more (caller id is free).

Well, look who just popped in! Where have you been? I was thinking of you yesterday, it is amazing how I can think about some certain friends here and they pop right up, good to see you here, that is really good that you have I.D. Caller for free, those Phone Co. are always trying to get you to make a extra Bill. Why do you get 50% off, Now that is real good What is the catch?

Lol geez! You mean you summoned me?!! I am a bit disappointed with myLot's recent glitches. Since no one is receiving notifications about my discussions, I am not excited about posting them. And since I have been busy with other things, myLot just took a seat back on my priority list. As for the 50%, it's loyalty bonus. I have been with them for at least 5 or 6 years and that's considered long due to stiff competition here.

You bechca! I screen all my calls. I can't stand pesky telemarketer. I also hate bill collectors. I dislike being interrupted when I'm working on line so I only answer when a client or my kids call. I cannot imagine how I got along without it. My answering machine is independent of my phone service so I have no fee for usage. I have no grand children and do not suffer your plight. My heart goes out to you and I hope that you resolve your situation someday. Thanks for speaking out, you are brave to do so.

I have caller ID, voicemail, call forward, call block, call waiting, and several other features like you can't call me with a private # it has to be unblocked to get through, but my phone company offers a bundle deal. We pay like about $40 for all features. They call it complete connections. I thought most phone companies did that. I guess I was mistaken, if I had to pay the much I don't think I would have them. On our service *67 will block your # from showing up on others caller ID's if your not private already and *82 will unblock if you are private. To me that is outrageous pricing.

*82, Oh, is that the way it goes, you can unblock a number that shows up private, Run that by me one one time. about the *82 I know a lot of my girl-friends numbers are private, if someone calls me and it is private. What do I do next?
@kblakley (247)

The person calling you has to dial *82 then your #. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that. For example, I have a private #, so when I call my mom I have to dial *82 before her # so my # doesn't come up private. I have a service that blocks private #s. When someone calls me with a private # they have to dial *82 first or the call won't go through. I'm sorry if I've confused you, apparently I'm good at that. :)

Caller ID comes with my phone service. I am currently using Vonage (can you use company names on this site?). So I get all of these wonderful features included in my monthly bill! I must say, caller ID does come in handy. To know who's calling is great. If you don't have it, I believe it's worth the cost!

You know what? Vonage may work well for you. You have to have a broadband service though. The bill is very low in comparison to the traditional telephone services. And they have a great promotion where you can get up to 2 month free!

Yes we do have. Mostly if the calling number is unknown, my mom would just not answer it. it gets really irritating cause i need to send her an sms before i would call from a different number! I told her she needs to answer them all cause you'll never know emergency cases...

I have it because there is stupid people calling hours about selling so I love having it. It does cost a little money but it's so handy. Make sure you pay your bill so you don't get services disconnected though because that's a mess. Pablo

Hello there marciascott, I have an I.D caller on my phone and from the place and country that I'm at which is Singapore, the charges for a caller id isn't that expensive. I think it is around $5-$10 depending on which telecommunication one subscribes here. But on the other hand, I think that features like voice-mail is certainly useless for myself since in my line of work, I don't really have time to even listen to the voice-mails that are recorded. So, I end up using a lot of text messages facility at the end of the day to catch up with the people that had contacted me. However, having an id caller is really a plus point because it allows me to check whose calling and etc since there were quite a few times that I didn't use this function and I ended up getting lots of prank calls from strange ladies that I certainly couldn't recall where I gave the number to. But one not so good thing about caller id in Singapore usage itself, I wouldn't be able to trace all th private numbers that call. Since the user on the other side has subscribed to anonymous facility, so it is quite a hassle to be having a caller id that couldn't trace back some of these nuisance calls or even urgent calls from my family members.

Ok, I suppose that makes a lot of sense. Do you all have *69 in singapor? that is when someone calls and you don't have I.D. Caller, you can automatically call them back?
